About this deal

As well as the option to select from one of the 425 points, you can also choose Zone AF and Wide/Tracking AF for following moving subjects. I want to make my point-of-view for this review clear, which is probably a little different than most. But that’s not to say you don’t get some excellent specs for your cash – and indeed in many ways it’s a very similar camera to the superb Fujifilm X-S10.

They kept the touchscreen in place and in turn making the whole layout and user experience very akin its brickshaped “rangefinderesque” sibling the X-E3.The rear LCD has no automatic brightness control, so it's dim in daylight unless you turn it up manually. The quad-core X-Processor 4 works with the X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor to provide an image processing combination that is capable of delivering various Film Simulation options, opening doors to new levels of creativity through how they each interpret colors and tones. Considering that the Mark II is a relatively modest upgrade over the original X-T30, if you already have that camera there’s little point in investing in the newer version. You’ll get fabulous pictures, an attractively styled body, access to a good range of lenses and a slew of useful specs.

These are devoid of color, so it's nearly impossible to have any clue where to find an item the next time we need it. This is Fujifilm’s current top-line sensor, also found in its higher-end cameras, so you can’t get better than that. I get sent the gear when I do the editorial packshots for Fujifilm Japan (and for this I get paid, just as I should be! All-in-all, it's hard to go wrong with the X-T30, one of the best midrange cameras we've tested in a long time. It’s also a little awkwardly placed if you’re using a tripod – you’ll find it behind the same door as the battery, next to the tripod thread, rather than behind a separate door on the side of the camera.

Sony cameras have better color rendition for most subjects other than people when shot as JPG, but for people pictures Fujifilm cameras are unbeaten. Fujifilm has something great going with the XT30, and other than that misplacement of the Q button, I cannot find a single thing about this camera that I dislike. This matters when you shoot multiple cameras (or this camera and an iPhone) and then sort all the images based on capture time to compare the similar views of each scene. Of course, “slightly” is the key word in that last sentence, but every bit counts, so it’s worth mentioning for those who might not know. For entry-level photographers looking for an affordable but feature-packed mirrorless camera, the newer X-T30 II would be the sensible choice.

Given that we’ve seen the X-T30 II’s sensor in multiple cameras, we didn’t expect any surprises when it came to image and video quality.

Another improvement is the focus point sensitivity, which now goes to an impressive -7EV, compared to the X-T30’s -3EV. We've taken an in-depth look at what the X-T30 II can do and whether it deserves to be added to our best mirrorless cameras list.
