About this deal

Cerrie Burnell, author of The Unicorn Seekers, shares her own love of unicorns, and suggests seven wonderful books about these magical creatures. Full of magic, sparkle and rainbows (and one naughty unicorn), little readers will love this calming tale before bed. It's almost time for bed . . . but where's Twinkle? Travel through the Land of Nod and help find this little unicorn to say goodnight! Something streamed past, seeming to rush right out of thin air. It was too little to be a horse, but was definitely not a deer. My daughter looked at me wide-eyed, both of us stunned, and whispered, 'Was that a unicorn?' Weaving a journey from lively beginning to a gentle end, this gorgeous novelty board book is perfect for little ones winding down for bedtime.

They come in a light grey colour or they can be pure white. They are very playful and they are funny,

Polly and her grandfather's tranquil lives get nutty when her favorite mare dies. Yes, if you're getting this movie for a kid that loves horses, please know that a horse dies giving birth right off the beginning. Your child will also be invited to have a mini glam up session if they would like too, glitter make up, rainbow tattoos and hair gems! Renaissance figure: the unicorn depicted as a tamed creature with a virgin in a 17th-century fresco. Photograph: De Agostini Picture Library/Getty Images They will firstly start walking down through the woodland where they meet the first three unicorns, they will spend some time brushing, asking questions and being told all about unicorns. because the Chinese people a long, long, time ago domesticated the first Unicorn. They come in pastel shades of red and yellow.

The unicorn has also done its bit for the LGBT community in the last century. The rainbow flag was created by American artist Gilbert Baker in 1978 as a joyous symbol of the diversity of the gay community. It became prominent during the gay rights protests of the 1970s and 1980s. Rainbows and unicorns are so intrinsically linked (the association is also a Victorian invention) that it’s unsurprising that the magic creature started to appear on T-shirts and banners at Gay Pride around the world, with slogans such as “Gender is Imaginary” or “Totally Straight” emblazoned under sparkling rainbow unicorns. So the unicorn has had commercial value for centuries. Then as a medicinal panacea, now as body glitter and cuddly toys. Which seems a bit of a comedown for the noble creature. It was the pervy old Victorians who turned this sexy beast into a child’s fantasy. “They romanticised many of the bestiary images,” says Lawrence, “though the Victorians actually had unicorn porn, too.” In a time of Trump and terror, we’ve aligned ourselves with the unicorn – a symbol of hope This extraordinary children's novel is the first in a fantasy series from debut author Annabel Steadman and has already gone global. In Skandar's world, not only are unicorns very real, but they're exceptionally deadly and can only be tamed by the rider that hatches them. This is a story that will enchant, excite, astonish and place unicorns firmly in the imaginations of a whole new generation of readers. An incredibly beautiful, imaginative and delightful handbook, with the power to warm hearts of all ages. I absolutely adore it and keep a copy beside my bed. Perfect reading before bedtime on warm sunny nights or cosy winter eves. A book to treasure for ever. This is a very old, mythical and multi-layered tale. It's an epic fantasy book, more aimed at older and adult readers. But it has a timeless and heart-stirring quality, a tale of love and loss and wonderment which still resonates with readers today. 5. The Unicorn Seekers: Map of Lost UnicornsOnce they have all had a turn we continue down into the woodland where they then set off on a treasure hunt to find the fairy villages, make a wish on the wishing tree and spot all the naughty gnomes along the way. Where do movies take me? My lord, sometimes they take me to auteur projects like this one, by Paul Matthews, all about how a unicorn can fix up people's lives. Oh David Warner, you deserve better. Joe Penny, too. And man, as much fun as I make of George Hamilton showing up in movies that are horrifyingly bad - Sexette, Evel Knievel and Madusa, I'm looking at you - even he deserves better than this. Man, even Christopher Atkins - The Blue Lagoon anyone? - deserves better! And so if, like me, you have a gentle belief in unicorns, here are seven beautiful books that celebrate them:

This a glorious and sublimely written novel that's full of magic, the power of sisterhood and finding courage. Set between our world and the enchanted land of Arden, it follows Sophie and Claire, two sisters who move to strange old Windemere Manor and climb a ladder in a fireplace. There, they discover a magical world in utter turmoil. The four guilds of magic have lost trust in each other, and worst of all, their unicorns are missing. 4. The Last Unicorn I admit it, I liked this movie. Sure it does have its problems, but it is very well meaning and is in general amiable family drama. While it is uplifting on the whole, there are also some dark issues like the death of the mare and the cruelty inflicted onto the unicorn. The sessions are a hour and half long, in this time the children are put into small groups where they will discover and make their way around three different areas of the magical woodland. The campaigners directed me to a Chad Valley Toys TV advert of a boy playing with a pink unicorn. It felt weird in that particular way that only gendered things can. I asked Robin if unicorns were girls. She said yes immediately, then paused. Actually some are boys she admitted, looking confused. They come through a portal from a magic world, she added, to clarify matters. But her uncertainty is understandable. They’re slippery creatures. It's bedtime, but one lively little unicorn can't quite settle down and go to sleep! As her dad counts down the minutes to bed, what mischief can she get up to?

Your welcome to bring your own lunch boxes/picnics/party food. We can also supply food, soft drinks for the children will be able FOC The mysterious white creature I saw in the woods became the starting point for writing about unicorns living in a South London park, only appearing to a certain few - mostly children aged nine. This became the story of Elodie Lightfoot, a roller-skating girl with a gang of friends who discover a unicorn in danger and journey across Europe to save it, learning about unicorn history and folklore as they go.

There is a unicorn themed craft area where your little ones can indulge their creative side and make a special memory to take home with them, explore our play area and run wild until their hearts are content! One of the unicorn’s first appearances in fantasy literature was in Lewis Carroll’s Through The Looking-Glass, and a quote from that has been used and abused on many cute T-shirts for girls in recent years. “Well, now that we have seen each other,” said the unicorn, “if you’ll believe in me, I’ll believe in you.” The story is a little formulaic and clichéd(ie, the idea of Polly being sent to boarding school isn't exactly new territory)with some very long scenes involving the attempts to abduct the unicorn, and the script does have its ups and downs. And sometimes I worry that The Little Unicorn may be too old fashioned from an adult perspective.

The children will then be told that there are two more unicorns to meet which they will all get the chance to ride on and explore another part of the woodland
