About this deal

The enemy air force, the one arm of the Argentine military to emerge with credit from that undeclared war in the South Atlantic, was of course quickly alerted. Ian Gardiner left the Royal Marines in 2001 in the rank of brigadier; his first book, In the Service of the Sultan: A First Hand Account of the Dhofar Insurgency was described by the late Professor Richard Holmes as ‘one of the best books about soldiering I have ever read’. Samson Engineering Ltd has reached agreement with the UK's leading EV conversion specialist company to undertake this aspect of work so as to ensure the best and safest conversion available is supplied. And with its shockingly effective heater, enclosed cabin and comfy seats, it’s a sight better than them for working in cold and horrible weather. For long-wheelbase models, like the JMV275 we have here, an additional 50mm is welded into the middle.

Clauswitz’s friction obtained all the way from UK to the Falklands, despite the opportunity to re-pack everything at Ascension –‘the unsung masterpiece of the operation’. At the same time, it’s a step above ATVs like the Polaris Ranger or Honda Pioneer, being properly road-legal and capable of longer trips if needed. In The Yompers, Gardiner takes his readers longside the Royal Marines of 45 Commando, sailing south on RFA Stromness in April 1982, and watching feature films to pass the time.In my opinion one of the best books on this war, a book that cannot be missing in the library of a fan of this war, so modern but at the same time ancient. YOMPER 225B "Bergan" SWB Ute type truck but with extended load bed (ELB) 350kgs or 500kgs load capacity. Any supposedly similar vehicle that does not provide a Yomper's level of testing (IVA) and supporting documentation (V5c showing accurate vehicle construction and type data) or component standards E marking or other necessary standards approvals, (Tyres, wheels, lights etc ) should not be used on the public highway and has the potential for null and void insurance cover and MOT refusal. The mods to the chassis and suspension actually make it feel a little more stable than the standard car, though that’s not exactly hard – a Jimny’s top speed is dictated by how brave you are. After disembarking from ships at San Carlos on East Falkland, on 21 May 1982, Royal Marines and members of the Parachute Regiment yomped (and tabbed) with their equipment across the islands, covering 56 miles (90km) [2] in three days carrying 80-pound (36kg) [3] loads. IVA testing is a legal and necessary requirement of the DVSA when significant modifications or remanufacture of a motor vehicle has taken place.

The Yompers is the first account to be written by a company commander who fought in the Falklands War.In Charlie Higson's second novel in The Enemy series, titled The Dead (2010), Bam tells Greg, "I grew up in the country, you see, always out yomping 'round the fields. Here I must telescope the account of how the loss of the Atlantic Conveyor forced 45 Commando to walk over rocky or soggy terrain from Port San Carlos to Douglas Settlement to Teal Settlement to Bluff Cove Peak and finally to their attack objective, Two Sisters, while carrying an astonishing weight in their packs, decorated here and there with radio kit, Milan anti-tank bunker busters and associated missiles, light and heavy machine guns – and ammunition.

Our JMV275 can carry 500kg in its load bed, and with all three sides dropping down flat and plenty of sturdy tie-down points it’s easy as pie to load up and secure your cargo.Cruising at 60mph is possible but you’ll need to have your foot more or less welded to the firewall to do so, and that’s with an unloaded vehicle.
