About this deal

OXO aims to question the status quo, designing products which make everyday tasks that little bit easier, irrespective of age, gender, or whether you're right or left handed. The stainless steel handled variant, the Zena Star peeler, was the model popularized by legendary New York City street hawker Joe Ades. A sharp blade, comfortable grip, and smooth movements can make the difference between hacking away at your vegetables and having an effortless peeling experience. If you’re left-handed however, it’s worth bearing in mind that its one direction mechanism is unlikely to work for you.

Even if you suffer from limited dexterity or have small hands, you'll find using this y peeler comfortable.Similar tumbling units with variously sized disc-shaped studs are used for peaches, tomatoes, beets and carrots. This electric peeler has the power to effectively peel a potato clean in just 10 seconds, and all you need to do is place it on the unit and turn it on. It was a little tricky to find the best way to hold it at first, both for peeling and when using the eyer but once we'd got the hang of it, it worked well.

Spring Chef Premium Swivel Vegetable Peeler: We don’t recommend this peeler; it was the slowest model and often got pieces of potato skin stuck in its blade. If we had to make repeat trips to remove all the peel or the peeler clogged often, this affected the speed and overall yield.

OXO Good Grips Pro Swivel Peeler: Another swivel peeler, the OXO Good Grips Pro Swivel Peeler had a comfortable handle and peeled smoothly, but had a difficult time getting around nooks and crannies. With a super sharp blade, the Alessi also effortlessly glides through a variety of fruit and vegetable skins. Other times, I'll hold the carrot in the air, usually right over the garbage, and just shave those strips right into the trash. The blade couldn’t seem to grab onto the tougher skin, and the tapered ends of the sweet potatoes were tough to fit on the peeler. For the straight handles, the blade is parallel to the handle, so you’ll hold the blade on its side and work in a sideways fashion, sort of like you’re brushing hair.

Also look at how the blade connects to its holder — if the gap above the blade is narrow, the peeler can clog rather than release the peels with ease. To create long, ribbon-like shapes with a vegetable peeler, you’ll want to peel the vegetable lengthwise for long, strand-like cuts. This peeler, which is equally as comfortable for righties as it is for lefties, boasts a molded handle that is easy to hold onto. Some peelers are entirely stainless steel from blade to handle, while some feature a hard plastic handle instead. If you have grown up with a traditional peeler and prefer a single blade (as opposed to a swivel blade), then this Victorinox potato peeler is a popular choice.

This peeler feature indents on the handle for each finger to hold onto securely and comfortably, plus it's designed for both right- and left-handed users.

That experience proved that although a vegetable peeler might be a humble tool, it’s a crucially important one. Not only do you have the option to go for a colorful set—one swivel peeler with a green handle, one julienne peeler with an orange handle, and one serrated peeler with a red handle—but these peelers also offer versatility and durability. As with the Oxo Good Grips Y Shaped peeler, this peeler offers a comfortable non-slip handle with a hanging hole and rust-proof materials that are built to last the test of time. Use your swivel or Y-shaped peeler on your favorite firm cheeses like parmesan or pecorino to garnish soups, salads, and pasta dishes.
