About this deal

Coven: A gathering or community of initiated witches, usually led by a high priest and/or high priestess. While candles, crystals and herbs may be among the most prominently featured ingredients in Wiccan magic and spellwork, these are by no means the only things Wiccans keep in their magical tool boxes. Sometimes beginning Wiccans get so caught up in spells and magic and seasonal rites that they forget about the spiritual practice of Wicca. In this spirit, some forms of Wicca have a tradition of the “light half” and “dark half” of the year, marked by the Summer and Winter solstices, respectively. Despite the mainstream’s growing fascination, the past few years have also seen, for example, a whopping 900 percent rise in (at times lethal) child-abuse cases linked to suspicion of witchcraft and demonic possession in the U.

There is no one way to “become” a Wiccan, but it is one of the easiest religions to join: unlike Judaism or Christianity, there is no need for a formal conversion process. It’s essential for beginners to approach these subjects with an open mind and respect for the traditions they encompass. But for those who are naturally drawn to forging their own path in life, the diversity to be found within Wicca can be incredibly rewarding. Tradition and Eclecticism: Witchcraft is not a monolithic practice; it consists of various traditions, each with its unique rituals, customs, and beliefs.

Wiccans believe that these deities are multi-fold; in that sense, it is a duotheistic religion, rather than traditionally monotheistic religions like Christianity. Some people like to create their own incense and oils with herbs, which adds even more magical power to their work. This is because many (but not all) Wiccans tap into their personal connection with the divine energies of Nature to actually shape the circumstances of their own lives, as well as to work for the benefit of others. Wicca allows you to have a logical thought process about what you want and no one will judge you if at some point you decide that although you thought Wicca was for you, maybe it actually isn’t. You can use them to create your own magical crafts, such as spell jars, dream pillows, poppets, sachets and other charms. If you are having trouble deciding who you believe is best for you, keep a journal with your thoughts in it. Some people believe that they should wait a year and a day before performing their ritual but this is really up to you. This means we don’t work magic with the intention of affecting the feelings or behavior of anyone other than ourselves.

This was known as Gardnerian Wicca, and it still exists today, prominently in the United Kingdom and United States, but also elsewhere. I know being this broad maybe isn’t that helpful, but remember that everyone is very different and what worked for me might not be something you feel any connection to. Like the Goddess, the God also splits the year: in autumn and winter, he is the Holly King, and in the spring and summertime, the Oak! Alternatively, they may not worship at all, but instead view all of nature as divine, based on ancient principles of druidism. The connection of Wiccans with nature is therefore very strong, found represented throughout their beliefs and the characteristics of their deities.
