About this deal

But comparing with the open-air tested Cisco WAP121 and WAP321, the UAP-LR’s results tend to run higher in both up and downlink.

Ubiquiti offers a wide range of Access Points, but in this article, I will focus on the most used access points for home networks and small and medium-sized businesses. The last step is to disable the wifi on your old router because the UAP is strong enough to cover your entire house. I read about L3 adoption but (a) did not really understand (b) don’t have working SSH access at the moment (c) don’t want to set back the AP to factory settings what according to the posts I found is necessary. Does the access point project my network if I don’t do anything other than plug it in to my lan (through the POE)? I am able to configure my new AP using my iphone app or Controller software on my Windows Laptop (and configure it as standalone device), my AP is connected to my network via an ethernet cable and a switch.

I have, in the past simply used an extender but it is flaky and I feel not very secure, but in any case it might be perfectly secure, I would like to keep the wired connections in the house around the CL access point as they are, and provide one wireless “mesh” network I think to every wireless device on the property while also having a wired connection in the garage which would arrive in the garage wirelessly So I thought, set up the Ubiquity device with the controller, or now I think maybe the mobile phone option is better, so I would love to hear opinions on whether I need to install the controller on a desktop, as I do have a mac and a PC that are on 24/7 should that be the preferred route. But I need help undestanding how it can work in my wired only internet setup to get somethings on it for wifi and to be able to turn off Wifi when I do not need it on.

The PRO is more central, but some devices seem to have difficulty connecting to the LR when moving between the PRO and LR, and so roaming around the house is a problem. We have two UAP-AC-LR indoor and looking for the best option to extend outdoors (to ensure coverage on the terrasse) the wireless network. Depending on your floor type you will need one for every floor or you can do with just one Access Point on the first floor or ground floor ceiling. The last step may have some inaccuracy as I wasn’t taking notes but seemed straighforward, especially compaired to the previous steps. Our Product ranges from Ubiquiti Accessories, Ubiquiti Antennas, Ubiquiti Networks Access Points, Ubiquiti Routers, Ubiquiti Switches, Ubiquiti Wireless .Is it best to run the Lan cable back to the main router or is it the same if I connect it to the spare LAN port in the AC-PRO. You shouldn’t have to worry about the channels, just leave in on auto and the Unifi controller will work it out.

This is a message from a fellow Dutchman living abroad, where not everyone is always as helpful as we would like them to be.There's a fourth UniFi model included with Ubiquiti's UniFi product refresh, the UAP-AC-EDU, but it's intended to be sold directly to educational institutions, and I didn't get one to test. I turned off DHCP on the LAN side of the router and connected it to my network with an IP address of 192.

Open the controller and for each device, go to settings > open radios and set the transmit power to low. Most of them you can better set it to medium or even low so devices roam quicker to the next access point. I configured the first Unifi AP AC PRO with the name SSID: home and i was successfully, i turned off the device and disconnected. PS we have a close friend with intimate knowledge of CLI, SSH, etc, but who does not know much about physical networks.

Ubiquiti first sent two preproduction models, a UniFi AP-AC-Lite and a UniFi AP-AC-LR, and then followed them up a couple of weeks later with a production model UniFi AP-AC-LR and a production model UniFi AP-AC-Pro when they were ready. I’ve been using Smoothwall Express for my router and firewall for probably 10 years, and I do DNS and DHCP off-box with bind9 and dhcpd (although Smoothwall can handle those roles as well).
