About this deal

Toshiba is renowned the world over for 50 years of leading innovation – and the power behind its range of hard drives is no exception.

A computer operating system, however, reports storage capacity using powers of 2 for the definition of 1GB = 2 30= 1,073,741,824 bytes and therefore shows less storage capacity. All other company names, product names, and service names mentioned herein may be trademarks of their respective companies. Designed for high capacity and excellent performance, you can be sure that Toshiba’s wealth of experience in hard drives is at work in your storage system. If you are only seeing something like 700GB of space on this drive, it is because you are using an outdated MBR partitioning tool which will not work properly with drives of this size.Ramp Load technology restricts the drive’s recording head from touching the disk media, resulting in improved protection of the drive while being transported and less wear to the recording head.

It should still respond to head parking commands from the OS, as any hard drive has been capable of doing since the days of MS-DOS. Since you still have access to the hard drive, I recommend performing a backup of your important files ASAP. In addition, your data and media are secured with a loading ramp design to prevent data loss or drive wear and tear. Toshiba’s advanced servo techniques and mechanical design minimizes drive acoustics, making them as silent as possible during operation. Export Control and EULA Use of any software made available for download from this system constitutes your acceptance of the Export Control Terms and the terms in the Dynabook end-user license agreement both of which you can view before downloading any such software.Accidental deletion, accidental format, file corruption, software bugs, file system corruption, viruses and malware, and many, many more. I'm glad for this, because I believe head parking should be left under control of the operating system, not arbitrarily forced by a drive's firmware. In an experiment on my system, I found that >2TB drives don't even appear in the WinXP-32 Disk Management screen.

I don't see a clearly labeled firmware version on the label of my drive, but it does say "DRIVE REV AAA AA00 / BB0". It most definitely responds to spin-down commands, I've had the OS configured to spin it down after 30 minutes of inactivity and this has worked fine. Personally I think the Toshiba hard drives are the poorest ever offered and don't be so sure that it really passed any tests because they have been known to pass failed drives. Windows and the Windows logos are either registered trademarks or trademarks of Microsoft Corporation in the United States and/or other countries. Therefore, if the drive were auto-parking itself, I should have seen the "load/unload" counter increase at every 5 minute update.Whether you're part of a global enterprise or have a small company, we can help locate the right drives and provide competitive pricing to help you integrate Toshiba HDDs into your storage solutions. Any idea what could cause this problem, and show short DST failure with my computer but not with another ?
