Overall, The Sea Gate is an evocative, immersive, moving tale that sweeps you away to another time and place and immerses you so thoroughly into the personalities, feelings, and lives of the characters you never want it to end. However, in The Sea Gate I had no such difficulty as the author gives the reader equally compelling stories and sympathetic characters in both time periods. The cast of characters was vastly diverse and well-drawn with despicable villains and endearingly flawed protagonists, but my favorite was the highly astute and humorously profane parrot.

This, resident-only, beach is open year-round but will require a beach pass from Memorial Day through Labor Day. I particularly liked the way Becky’s renovation of Chynalls mirrors her own psychological and physical “renovation”.
