About this deal

Her mother, who is known as “The Dress Witch,” stitches happiness into the gowns with family spells and a little magic.

The Keeper of Happy Endings by Barbara Davis | Goodreads

Soline tells Rory about her family’s bridal business and how she lost her love, an ambulance driver named Anson, during the war and settled in America until the fire stripped her of her ability to design dresses and sew; as a result, she is now a relative recluse. It’s a rather slow-paced book, but it does pick up, and the payoff at the end makes it worth the time it takes to get there. Decades later, while coping with her own tragic loss, aspiring gallery owner Rory Grant leases Soline’s old property and discovers a box containing letters and a vintage wedding dress, never worn.

On her first day, she meets Anson Purcell, an American ambulance driver who volunteers with the American Field Service (AFS) transporting patients.

Soline Roussel made wedding dresses for her exclusive bridal salon before a fire burned down her studio and left her with hands unable to hold a needle. It’s clear that they were destined to meet―and that Rory may hold the key to righting a forty-year wrong and opening the door to shared healing and, perhaps, a little magic. When those echoes connect, they become so attuned that even if they be separated, they continue to seek one another.

For generations her family has kept an exclusive bridal salon in Paris, where magic is worked with needle and thread. I was gifted this copy by Barbara Davis, Lake Union Publishing, and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review. What Barbara Davis manages to do is weave a spell that makes the magic and twists of fate feel completely plausible, even as its sets against a backdrop of one of the worst human atrocities in history.

What is The Keeper Of Happy Endings All About

He does not react well initially, mistakenly believing that Soline left him and married someone else. In theory it should have ticked all the right boxes, I love stories that are a bit witchy, bit magic, I loves sewing, so what's not to like? Her husband to be has been taken hostage overseas and she does not know if she will ever see him again. I’m only slightly embarrassed to say it, but I picked up The Keeper of Happy Endings by Barbara Davis thanks to TikTok.Davis uses alternating perspectives and a dual timeline, with each chapter told from either Rory’s perspective in third-person limited point of view or Soline’s in first person. This is one of those feel-good, curl up with a good mug of tea or hot chocolate on a cold and rainy day kinds of books. She spent more than a decade as an executive in the jewelry business before leaving the corporate world to pursue her lifelong passion for writing. Soline is not aware that he’s alive, and when they see each other at the gallery, he retreats immediately, causing Soline to isolate for days.
