My favourite part in the book was when Alfie and Gabz and Alfie’s Dad give chase on a steam train which has TNT on the side as it added more excitement to the adventure. Miss Root’s hair was white-blonde, and arranged in a perfectly lacquered ‘do’, usually only spotted on the heads of Queens or Prime Ministers. Alfie and Gabz are determined to get to the bottom of the mystery - but no-one could have dreamed what they’ll discover when they come face to face with the demon dentist herself, in this hilarious and thrilling story. Instead of standing at the front with her own eyes closed, Miss Root tiptoed around the room inspecting all the children’s teeth.Miss Root must have lingered looking at his rotten set, as the boy could feel her cold breath on his face for a while before she tiptoed back to the front of the hall. Nevertheless, Alfie’s father had taught him to wear his uniform with pride; the boy’s frayed tie was always knotted absolutely perfectly. I wonder what the fairy tale will look like hundreds of years from now and what stereotypes and conventions will have changed. I felt sorry for all of the small children who have their teeth stolen as I would be very sad if that happened to me!

Mr Grey is the headteacher of the school and he is described as the most unsuited person for the job as he is scared of the children, teachers and even his own reflection.Yet whilst this book is unlikely to dispel any dentist fears, there's enough humour in the mix to prevent it becoming too terrifying for the majority of young readers. But with someone substituting the Tooth Fairy’s payments with nasty creatures, can Alfie and his friend Gabz solve the mystery and is the Demon Dentist to blame?

Nevertheless, even with a lengthy human chain and an army of yanker, the tooth stayed well and truly put. Demon dentist for me is a combination of slapstick, traditional European fairy tale, and "Struwwelpeter. Task 2: divide a piece of A4 in two, put the heading on one half “Ich mag das” (I like that) and on the other half put the heading “Ich mag das nicht”. As his dad spoke, the boy would open his eyes, become distracted, and begin to wish he could play computer games all night like the other kids at his new big school. And I see that there is a need to make it interesting and that's where you need some evil witch, because how otherwise will you keep the children's attention?

Getting another job became impossible, and even everyday tasks, something as simple as tying a shoelace, grew to be a struggle.
