Fact is, it is sure to be a repository for Fabs knowledge-seekers and fresh Beatles trivia buffs for years to come. If you do have that vaunted vinyl edition, or perhaps are one of the lucky ones to have an original UK mono pressing, then this inclusion may be extraneous for you. I have so many versions of this album but I don't mind because its the beatles and they are amazing. The book is illustrated with images of handwritten lyrics, tape boxes, and recording sheets, as well as 1966 print ads and extracts from the graphic novel, Revolver 50.

On October 28, Revolver will be released worldwide in a range of beautifully presented, newly mixed and expanded Special Edition packages by Apple Corps Ltd. On the contrary, we spend a lot of our time here talking about old jazz and rock recordings that we still love. The album’s opening track, “Taxman”, was recorded across three Studio Two sessions in April and May. This set features a striking new stereo remix helmed by producer Giles Martin and is a fantastic addition to The Beatles catalog, providing a tremendous insight into the music as well as into its making. Wait until you hear the isolated stereo backing track for “Eleanor Rigby” on the Sessions discs — experiencing that string quartet isolated and in stereo is absolutely spinetingling and mesmerizing.This is my favourite Beatles album so it’s no exaggeration that I was very excited to finally get my hands on this copy. The album was ranked first in Colin Larkin's book All-Time Top 1000 Albums and third in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. I’m happy about this new Super Deluxe Revolver 4LP/1EP box set, hands down — and I think you will be too! But seeing how this particular mono mix is not being released separately from the box set as the stereo mix is — at least not yet, anyway — you’ll have to weigh the merits as such for your own listening proclivities.

On Metacritic, Revolver: Special Edition holds an aggregate score of 100 out of 100, based on nine reviews, indicating "universal acclaim". Revolver’s Special Edition also features Take 1 and a previously undocumented and only recently discovered rehearsal for the song with George playing sitar and Paul on tamboura. So, the other big news about this new Revolver box set is the inclusion of two LPs’ worth of studio outtakes.The new Revolver stereo mix on vinyl certainly pays homage to the original mono — which, of course, was priority one for the band in 1966, as many of you probably already know. I have compared it with the mono version and the both are complementary : pop songs are better on this version (eleanor rigby, for noone, tomorow never knows,…) whereas rock songs are better on mono (taxman, SHE said. I expect he isn’t listening to Thelonius Monk or Hank Williams or Mozart ‘cause, you know, that’s from the past. This label exhibits a new layout design most notably with side one having both “Taxman” and “Eleanor Rigby” on the first line.
