About this deal

The language in which the Tannaim of Israel and Babylonia wrote is referred to as Mishnaic Hebrew (MH), or in Hebrew Lešon hakhamim, meaning the language of the Sages. In 2002, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives approved Tablas Creek Vineyard's petition to add Tannat to the list of grape varieties that could be made into a varietal wine. A rich wine enlivened by the refreshing acidity of this singular grape (a cross of Cabernet Sauvignon and Tannat). His tasting note praised the wine’s ‘top notes of violet, sweet spices and cut grass [with a] palate of cassis, plum, strawberry [and] nuanced tannins’.

The grape is also blended with more well known ones such as Merlot to make excellent alternatives to California and Australian offerings. Micro-oxygenation – (aka “microOX” or “microbullage” in French) – is the process of introducing teeny, tiny amounts of oxygen during the winemaking process to soften the overbearing structure and make the wines more approachable at a younger age. It’s ‘robust, brooding and tannic enough to pair well with full-flavoured meat dishes, but has plenty of ripe dark fruit to balance the power’, said Decanter’s Amy Wislocki.

Purchasing wine online, particularly with Vivino, is the simplest way to gain access to Madiran wines. The region of Madiran plays a significant role in how red wines from these lesser-known regions are perceived. Vinification Process: The chardonnay is picked unripe (like champagne base wine) to give a sharp acidity, then fully ripened Gewurztraminer and finally late harvest ‘raisin-like’ Moscato is added. The nose is fresh, with aromas of mint, blueberries, red fruits and spices and leads to a succulent palate with rich, sweet fruit balanced by firm ripe tannins.

It is most commonly found in red wine, although some white wines have tannin too (from aging in wooden barrels or fermenting on skins). Some of these wines have a short vatting period and are supple, fresh and fragrant: they are intended to be drunk young. Lamb and beef are seen as the holy grail of Tannat wine pairings in Uruguay, but pork can also offer excellent results. Tasting Note: Floral lift on the nose with complex spice and notes of rosemary and white peach; fresh on the palate, the acidity driving things along with further herbal, citrus and greengage fruit flavours. Tannat has been touted as one of the “healthiest” red wine grapes, thanks to much higher levels of antioxidants (like resveratrol). The book fully exposes her character and her teachings with an atypical theological perspective of individual status. e. carries high tannins and high acidity) is that over time, the wine’s tannins will break down and soften on their own. After this period, though, the Houses of Hillel and Shammai came to represent two distinct perspectives on Jewish law, and disagreements between the two schools of thought are found throughout the Mishnah. An addition is sometimes given after a name to denote significance or to differentiate between two people with the same name.
