The Mario Movie is still showing in cinemas, but in time there'll be a home release in the form of Blu-ray, DVD and 4K options. They were shot and edited entirely digitally, before finally transfering to film once complete, to get that "look" of adding the grain, softness and difference in colour range. That said, would've been cool if they had included some of the things mentioned in this comment section!

I think there was a huge pent up demand for something that you can take your family to and not not have to worry about having anything preached to you about. Even if you settle on a cheaper 2D showing, there's no advantage in watching a film print of it as oposed to a decent DCP. Streaming sites only have a limited selection of films and TV shows though, and most don't rival the quality of a 4k blu ray (4k streaming isn't the same).

This being said, we will be keeping an eye out for the official word on the release following the film's premiere where hopefully we will get a slightly better idea of what special features the disk format will offer. Thats an expensive way to do something entirely possible to do digitally (like I said, its very common for me to be asked to do this nowadays, to give the aesthetic to digital films) but it would have meant the few occasions you'd see them actually being projected, they would have looked how the director/editors intended. I watched for movie for the first time on Thursday (it got a delayed release here) and… I’m happy to say I found it genuinely pleasant and entertaining. The extras are rather weak since it'll just be rehashed stuff they've all said in the countless promotional interviews they did for the film I'm sure.

I bought the Lord of the Rings trilogy special edition that each had 4 DVDs, two for the movies (extended edition) and the other two filled with hours of pure extra content. Another film that had the film effects applied similar to Ghibli’s films and Knives Out was Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers 2022.NBC will not at all release it anywhere else and will use it as a pull to get people make accounts on their service. There’s no random inclusion of the US military (looking at you Sonic/Monster Hunter/Transformers/etc. Movie and while the marketing campaign has certainly stepped up a gear (often in weird boot-focussed ways), that hasn't stopped the odd leak from slipping through. The basic structure is incredibly threadbare, but that only gives more room to fill with silly, lighthearted, colourful fun.

Cashews “Stupefying” just means astonishing or shocking, and I think the success of the movie has been pretty astonishing. Similarly, ARRI only make digital cameras these days, and if you want to shoot with film you have to rent a "Impeccably maintained" vintage camera from their archives, and thats becoming harder and more expensive as they are degrading over time. How about you accept that you are just insecure about not being able to fully comprehend exactly why The Super Mario Bros.It's always a bit disappointing that most animated movies don't have small videos chronicling the animation work behind the scenes. Kirbyo Plex is a service where you provide your own server and movie files, then Plex makes it so you can stream it to almost any device you own. I think people’s animosity towards critics is, on the whole, less about the critics being ‘wrong’ and more about people being too insecure to admit that they like stuff that is… well… a bit insubstantial.
