Opening at the end of summer, Heaton Mersey has welcomed a brand new gelato spot known as Macari’s Gelateria. This light hearted story is filled with engaging characters and amusing dialogue, especially with the two children she has decided to foster.Beca has plans, great intentions and I love that this story shows people from differing backgrounds. I loved how Beca opens up over the course of this story, learning to forgive herself for the mistakes she thinks she has made, and the way her relationship develops with Joe and Blake, the boys she welcomes into her home, is beautiful. Our spacious outdoor area is perfect for all the family to soak up a little piece of Yorkshire whilst enjoying an ice cream. They often offer seasonal flavours, with vanilla, chocolate and natural yoghurt making up the core menu. Enjoy heavenly honeycomb ice cream as you walk through the lavender fields and smile in the sunshine.

I was gifted this copy by Random House UK, Transworld Publishers, Penguin and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review. I love every book as it takes us somewhere different, with a mix of various foods, flavours, smells and experiences and this book is no exception. I will admit it took me a minute or two to get involved with this one, but after a few chapters, I was hooked. Fairly new to town, What The Pitta has brought the city’s first-ever vegan soft serve, finished off with a tasty Love Raw vegan wafer and toppings such as Biscoff crumble, chocolate sauce and sprinkles.
She was expecting to have more time to get things organised, but sometimes this is the best way of approaching things. When she is asked to give emergency care to two boys, older than she was expecting, she is determined that she will make a difference in their lives, the way her parents and grandparents had done for her. For me, this one started off a little unevenly and I thought this might finally be the one that I didn’t love. I desperately wanted the pair of them to get together but as he was with another woman this didn’t seem at all possible.

We follow the story through summer, as Beca navigates her way through settling back into her home town, and strives to give the boys, Blake and Joe, as many good memories as possible in their short time with her.I am a huge fan of Jo Thomas and through her fabulous books I have travelled to Iceland, to Greece, to Spain and to France and experienced some wonderful food! Thomas has done it again, with a food packed, fun filled book which is the perfect way to go on holiday without leaving the comfort of your own home. I loved that her memories of happy family times, particularly with her beloved Nonna, were what inspired her to want to create happy memories for the children who would be in her care. I loved seeing her blossom, her growth was mirrored in the two boys, Blake and Joe who she fostered.
