About this deal

It added a nice eeriness to the story that had been lacking since they debunked the paranormal shit as being hallucinations. That was one way Colby was different from him—a little wilder, a little more random, a little more impulsive than Sam was. They’ve taken millions of fans on adventures into our planet’s lesser-known, seen, and understood regions.

It turns out Trey has been living at the infamous Belle Estate, owned by a wealthy and eccentric widow–who locals believe is a witch. Sure, Sam was all about hard work, but he hoped Nate would disconnect long enough to enjoy the trip, too. They bustled through the airport with their bags, heading to the rental car facility, a charged excitement buzzing through Sam’s veins.

The author skillfully builds suspense, capturing the readers' attention as strange occurrences unfold. Also it was like you there in the moment with Sam and Colby just a little bit exaggerated for more of a pay off type novel feel because that’s how horror stories are suppose to be.At LAX airport and throughout the flight, Nate had plugged away on his iPad, writing short stories for his college writing class. I wish they would’ve committed to one or the other, because it added an odd sense of disjointedness to the story that could’ve been easily resolved. The combination of the well-crafted plot, engaging characters, and atmospheric setting creates a truly immersive experience. This book so unbelievably good, the way colby and Sam took their best childhood friends with them on vacation the most surprising turn of events happened to them.

In terms of the boys, it seemed very reliant on us knowing who Sam and Colby are and what they’re all about (which is fair, since probably 99. God, that was so fucking annoying (though I did go back afterwards from the moment that they first arrived at the Belle Estate—starting as early as page 36—and it felt incredibly obvious knowing now that it was all drugs, so props to Gaby for dropping that many hints early on).Exploration, particularly in eerie and often mysterious locations, has taken off like wildfire with its audience. I don’t know if I would have picked this book up if it didn’t have Sam and Colby’s name attached to it. While their videos cover a wide spectrum of their experiences, there are many unknown stories, both scary and hilarious, surrounding their stranger encounters. I’ll go more in detail on this in the “spoiler section”, but it kind of diminished everything that had happened throughout the story and left me wondering “what was the point? It’s been the exploration, particularly around spooky and sometimes paranormal places, that has caught on like wildfire with their audience.
