I was considering giving up, but due to the ties to the Titanic mentioned in the books blurb, I stuck with it and I am SO glad I did. Griffith did a wonderful job of directing--especially when the peasants revolt and overthrow the government. The last Griffith film to feature both Lillian and Dorothy Gish, it was a commercial failure compared to his earlier works, such as The Birth of a Nation (1915). The two partisans who have come to collect the boy (one of them an enormous giant of a man) bring with them an atmosphere of sinister and mocking foreboding. Beginning in Nice 1911, young French woman Marcella Caretto strives to protect her children from her husband, Michael Navratil, who has become cruel and controlling since their whirlwind romance.

Also a story that teaches us to never give up on love and there is nothing a mother wouldn't do for her children. The way in which their lives all become entwined is told in this book, but the rudimentary facts are documented in history. While we are not open to the pubic, we arrange personal meetings between potential homes and our animals.

Katie Flynn was born in Norwich and attended Norwich High School, where she was extremely happy and extremely undistinguished. The female protagonist Marcella Caret was in 1911, living in Nice, France with her controlling husband Michael. I found Margaret's story a bit slow, but I think it was because of my level of excitement about the part onboard the ship. The movie is about two sisters (one blind) who are separated during the turmoil of the French Revolution.
