A couple of puzzling surprises—nothing earth shaking shocking—but just enough to keep our minds wondering ‘why’…. Two days later, when filming has finished at this location, he decides he’d like to stay with her for a week (he’s become quite accustomed to watching the sunrise with her on her front porch).

Still, Leo’s love for the children and their hijinks together was ultimately what made me start to like Leo. He appears in her kitchen at odd times, drinks her coffee, is mesmerized by her chicken roasting technique, charms her kids, and drunkenly falls asleep on her porch.
Yes, Nora and Leo fall for each other and yes, there are misunderstandings along the way, but I loved Nora, Leo, her friends and parents, and Arthur and Bernadette. He rhapsodizes about her schedule, and eagerly looks forward to running all of her errands with her, like an eager puppy.

Hannah Brooks looks more like a kindergarten teacher than somebody who could kill you with her bare hands. Nora Goes Off Script made me laugh out loud, and offered a soothing fantasy about discovering your humdrum life is someone else’s perfection.She’s tough, disciplined, focused on what she needs todo for herself and her children after her useless husbands up and leaves them. She has the surveyed the wreck of her much loved house and the wreckage of her marriage to useless Ben but looks with pride at the solidly built teahouse in her garden and the subject around which her darker than usual movie script is woven. Absolutely irresistible—funny, addictive and deliciously romantic, this is exactly the sort of book we all need right now. The extra seven grand would give Nora breathing room, but it’s the need in his eyes that makes her say yes.
