The best way of checking if an item will fit is to measure a similar garment you have which fits well and compare the measurements.The 32oz wool on this peacoat is combined with the quilted lining will keep you warm in some of the harshest conditions around. I'm not sure if they ever made these for the USN or not (didn't really look into it), but it has a very classic look.

It's nice but if you have ever handled a vintage wool issue peacoat this isn't it as far as wool quality goes. You could tell someone took their time to tape up all corners for the product to get to my home undamaged. The old Peacoats had those too, so I'm glad to see this one in keeping with that old-school tradition. But lets be honest, you’re supposed to wear this coat with knitwear and with a nice jumper it’s spot on with enough space that it’s not constricting or difficult to button up, this coat is thicker in real life than it looks in pictures along with being heavy and quite stiff, if you start sizing down in an attempt to get around the boxy shape and make it into a slim fit you can very easily end up with something that may look good in the mirror but is tight and uncomfortable when you wear it in everyday life, now I think about it, my original 740N was probably too small for me from the start. The reefer jacket is for officers [5] [ failed verification] and chief petty officers only, and is identical to the basic design, but usually has gold buttons and epaulettes.

I live in the Pacific northwest, so I don't need the quilted lining, and it would definitely be too warm for the winters that we have here. This coat upgrades the standard issue peacoat with additional flap pockets in the sides and a flap to secure the raised collar against winds. Authentic design with double breasted black metal buttons, plain back with a back vent, fully lined, two front slanted pockets, high collar and a small fabric label stitched on by the front hem.When my new Schott peacoat arrived i could not get over the difference in quality to my worn out jacket.
