About this deal

However, the author has added a story of a little boy (Finn) who wasn’t very interested, was on his own, came across as unfriendly, and was then mean to Luna. Joseph Coelho is an award-winning children's author, performance poet and playwright based in London. I know and understand that the author was trying to send a positive message about friendship and being nice to others whose home life situations could be causing them to act out, but I’m not sure this was done so well as in reality such problems with kids are usually more complex that this and don’t always result in the kids suddenly being nice after being mean.

His debut poetry collection, Werewolf Club Rules, was the 2015 winner of the CLPE CLiPPA Poetry Award. This story takes us on a wonderful journey through the Art Gallery, introducing children to a number of famous artists, encouraging them to think about what they see and express themselves, telling their own creative stories about the art.Things then resolve themselves very quickly and in the end Finn and Luna seem to suddenly become good friends, chatting on the school bus on the way home, the story having a happy ending. series celebrates the magic of books to bring families and friends together - and sometimes save the day! So helping them to identify and understand others could help them to not take others bad behaviour personally, as they maybe going through difficulties within their own lives.

Beautifully, yet simply written, it is also a sympathetic look at families and the variety of shapes they come in. When she gets to school she’s excited as are the other children, all except for Finn who is looking at the floor. Lucy is thrilled and excited to be going on a field trip, especially with her mom along as a chaperone. Joseph Coelho is an award-winning performance poet and author of Luna Loves Art, illustrated by Fiona Lumbers.

The art in the gallery really does look like the original pieces and the characters of their book are great, the expressions of Luna and Finn especially. Accompanying the poetic text is gloriously bright and delightful illustrations to bring the magic of the library to life.

Softly rhyming text and glowing, illustrations in this calm, gentle book celebrate an apparently insignificant domestic ritual, which means everything to this father and daughter as they make time for each other. When Finn is mean to Luna her mum sits down with her and tells her that Finn just probably needs a friend and later the two are suddenly good friends at the end of the story even though Finn never seems to be sorry for his outburst and doesn’t apologise. I love the idea that we can talk to children and they will be ready to open up and create friendships and connections with others, but in my experience that doesn’t happen right away. Fiona Lumbers has drawn on anything and everything from an early age and always insisted she would be an artist when she grew up.The illustrations are really what makes this book wonderful to look at and I would recommend this book for the illustrations alone! The story teaches us that art can be a window into understanding different perspectives and expressing our feelings.
