Poor Bear often bears the brunt of Looshkin’s energy, along with the rest of the family, and although the events are surreal and hectic, there are lots of laughs throughout. Off-the-wall characters, wacky storylines and hilarious comic-strip illustrations ensure there are plenty of laughs on every page. Each one of the self-contained stories is a work of invention and comic genius, and gloriously silly. Possessing a beguiling mix of curiosity and carelessness coupled with being completely oblivious to the destruction and mayhem he causes further adds to the general chaos and bizarre shenanigans. Karl rarely takes action against Looshkin's attacks on Bear, arguably because he too is afraid of Looshkin to a certain extent.Looshkin is named ‘the maddest cat in the world’ for good reason–this kitty is absolutely bonkers and random. Looshkin may look like a little blue cat but is in fact a ball of explosive energy and mischief who knows no bounds and is prepared to do absolutely anything! Anything that could possibly go wrong all comes down to Looshkin: from bringing home a shark and insisting it’s an otter to opening a portal to hell, Looshkin leaves a trail of destruction wherever he goes. Karl, Looshkin's hapless bachelor owner, thinks Looshkin is just lonely and needs a female cat to play with, but the traumatized Bear vehemently disagrees.
