About this deal

I’m used to these sticks being quite close together and just by moving them apart it completely threw me off. It is possible that dirt has amassed in the opening where the charger is connected, preventing it from making proper contact. A former Project Manager and long-term tech addict, he joined Mobile Nations in 2011 and has been found on Android Central and iMore as well as Windows Central. I don't suppose anyone who has updated their bios would be able to check to see if the new version has added PXE boot support? The 2MP rear-facing camera sits in the top left of the rear panel, and at the bottom are two separate stereo speakers, which are each covered by a metallic grille.

On the left is the LS, left trigger/bumper and the dpad, and on the right is the RS, right trigger/bumper and AXBY buttons. the Linx 8 is only slightly taller but not as thick as the similar Pipo W2, and overall feels like a slim and rather compact package, especially when you consider that Intel's SoC is definitely bigger than other, less powerful chipsets found in many other 8-inch tablets. The whole setup is a little peculiar when compared to more traditional controller, but it seems to work. When I try and boot from USB I get a blue screen asking for language selection (US is the only available english language) so I select that, then I get a choice of what I want to boot from so I select UEFI Sandisk (my USB drive) but it just goes in a loop from there on in, it appears to boot from the stick as the blue light flashes rapidly but then takes me back to the same boot menu. While streaming I suffered very little lag – at least nothing that I could notice – and while I won’t be using this setup to play online competitively, it does offer me some single player solace when I can’t get to the TV.Just finishing up a few install issues and I'll see what can be done regarding the backed up recovery partition.

The usual caveats will apply to game streaming, but this is certainly a more elegant solution than a regular small tablet with cables hanging off it and a controller plugged in. I really like the controller cradle, but as well as it works, you can’t beat the layout of a good old fashioned controller and I’ll certainly be looking into picking up a micro USB adaptor so I can plug my Xbox One controller into the tablet.

The Linx Vision 8 is the best budget Windows 10 tablet I could find on the market right now, Windows 10 is a joy to use in tablet and desktop mode, and as if Xbox streaming wasn’t enough, you can also play Windows 10 PC and mobile games as well as some Steam games – what more could you ask of a PC in your pocket! There are also frequently asked questions, a product rating and feedback from users to enable you to optimally use your product. headphone socket sit on the top edge – all welcome connectivity, especially the HDMI socket, which affords the ability to output to a TV or monitor.

I've had a few issues with mine, and ended up reinstalling windows only to find a lot of missing drivers. It's not the slimmest thing you'll ever encounter either, and the 1280x800 resolution display will not be making your game graphics look their sharpest. The system comes complete with a gaming cradle so you needn’t worry about picking up an adaptor for the tablet’s micro USB port so that an Xbox One controller can be used.

When you think of cheap tablets, the undeniable truth is that you're probably thinking of a plastic Google Android tablet to keep your kids happy. The only other sound issue I had was when I used the chat feature over Xbox LIVE with the tablet’s internal mic – my friends could hear themselves when they spoke. Of course, if you're looking for the same kind of connectivity a laptop affords, you'll be sorely disappointed, but on the bright side, Linx has incorporated an easily accessible microSD card slot on one side, whilst a micro-HDMI port, micro-USB port and 3. The Linx 8″ Microsoft Windows Tablet is a fantastic Windows tablet that comes preinstalled with Windows 8. Pro was using far too much space (I was down to 9gb remaining after doing Windows Updates) despite deleting temp files etc.

It'd probably take a little while to get comfortable with but in my hands-on playing Forza 6 streamed from a nearby console, it was positively enjoyable. The speakers are clear but lack any depth to the bass – no problem if you have a decent headset and my Bluetooth ASTRO A38 worked perfectly. It is possible that dirt has amassed in the opening where the headphone is connected, preventing it from making proper contact. The "About" in Windows now says Linx 8 instead of 810B and the touch screen doesn't work properly, even in the Volume+/Power boot menu. IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity and is a (often) unique number that is used to identify mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones and protect them against theft.
