The Fun Facts: As to the album’s cover art, which shares the name with “Zuma 85” is a photo (un-cropped and twice the size of the album artwork) of an abandoned house by California photographer John Divola.I was nervous when I saw this record was announced, and was worried it would be a disappointment, but I’ve never been more glad my worries were unfounded. Pressing plants used to scrape them off, but current practice is to leave them, so as not to affect the sound. For most of the band’s existence, Allah-Las adhered to a year to album year/tour year schedule, logging serious hours on the road. The story of love lost, of Satan’s cloud, of surfing cyborgs and the dinosaurs that defended us, of yawning Brahmatrons, flying robot-tiger-wizard-sharks, trickster TechnoChrists, dying in the desert and then at the end of it all, coming to the realization you need not have made the journey anyway and the happiness you seek has been inside you all along?
