About this deal

Kandahar fares better once Ric Roman Waugh shifts into his wheelhouse house, as the nature of Tom’s presence is exposed, meeting that the only option is a race to the particular extraction point. The film received a wide global release in cinemas and was praised both for its sweeping cinematography, and for Zinoune’s performance.

That mission turns out to be an explosive success, taking Tom to another job in Afghanistan that he doesn’t want to take but quickly reconsiders based on the amount of cash thrown at him by his superior (Travis Fimmel). In the United States and Canada, Kandahar released alongside The Little Mermaid, The Machine, About My Father, and You Hurt My Feelings. Director Ric Roman Waugh’s Kandahar marks the second time in as many months that a film’s heart comes from a bond between an operative and his field translator (the other is Guy Ritchie’s the Covenant). The next day, Harris's partner in the operation, Oliver, is murdered by the Iranian Special Force after both Oliver and Harris's identity are compromised. As the film builds to its grand climax, it involves everything from mortars to rocket launchers to airstrikes, maximizing the mayhem. The story begins in Iran with Tom Harris (Butler) with his partner Oliver (Tom Rhys Harries) working on wiring at a nuclear plant center. The film stars Gerard Butler (who is also a producer) and features a supporting cast that includes Ali Fazal, Navid Negahban, Bahador Foladi, Nina Toussaint-White, Tom Rhys Harries, Vassilis Koukalani, Mark Arnold, Corey Johnson, and Travis Fimmel, and follows the CIA operative and his translator who flee from Afghanistan after his covert mission were exposed. It is funded by Saudi production company Rozam Media and comes from a novel and script by Saudi author Turki Al Alshikh, who is also the chairman of the kingdom's General Authority for Entertainment.

Roman directs Tom and his Afghan-American translator Mohammad “Mo” Doud to an extraction point in Kandahar. Ric Roman Waugh directs the film while Navid Negahban, Ali Fazal, Travis Fimmel and Elnaaz Norouzi all line-up among the cast. Of the new film, Tom Ortenberg of Open Road Films said, “’ Kandahar’ is an adrenaline ride made for the big screen. Open Road picked up Kandahar in an eight-figure deal in the low teens back in September as Deadline first told you. all content and information unless pertaining to companies, studios or advertisers included on this site, and to movies, TV series and cinemas listed on this site.

It follows Battuta from his native Morocco to Makkah, meeting Bedouins, bandits and fellow pilgrims on the way. He must fight his way out, alongside his Afghan translator, to an extraction point in Kandahar, all whilst avoiding the elite special forces tasked with hunting them down. This is when he connects with Mo, and the pair have limited time to finish the job before they are discovered and killed before getting home.
