About this deal

Interstellar comes in two flavours, the standard keep case version and a more expensive digibook alternative but both contain the same two discs. In addition to the 4K disc itself (which contains no extras), the packaging also includes the previous 2-disc Blu-ray special edition, which has the movie on one disc and bonus features on the other, all in 1080p HD. Why would you have hibernation pods filled with liquid (like bathtubs) on a spaceship that sometimes operates in microgravity? The intensity is intoxicating, making for a near-perfect accompaniment to the film's staggering visuals. Segments include: Plotting an Interstellar Journey (7:49), Life on Cooper’s Farm (9:43), The Dust (2:38), Tars and Case (9:27), The Cosmic Sounds of Interstellar (13:40), The Space Suits(4:31), The Endurance (9:24), Shooting in Iceland: Miller’s Planet/Mann’s Planet (12:42), The Ranger and the Lander (12:20), Miniatures in Space (5:29), The Simulation of Zero-G (5:31), Celestial Landmarks(13:22), Across All Dimensions and Time (9:02), and Final Thoughts (6:02).

The Dust– The dust, which played a big part in the Earth sequences, was done on film as opposed to during post-production, for a more realistic effect. Inside Interstellar offers up some 14 smaller Featurettes: Plotting the Interstellar Journey, Life on Cooper's Farm, The Dust, TARS and CASE, The Cosmic Sounds of Interstellar, The Spacesuits, The Endurance, Shooting in Iceland: Miller's Planet / Mann's Planet, The Ranger and the Lander, Miniatures in Space, The Simulation of Zero-G, Celestial Landmarks, Across all Dimensions and Time, and Final Thoughts. Farmer/Engineer Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) and his family aren’t immune to the climate changes, either. Yes, there’s the beautifully-shot scenes and the amazing soundtrack (more on that below), but as a viewer you feel like you’re more a part of something than just a passive observer. The accompanying score - which pervades, penetrates and outright smothers just about everything else - is a highly emotional one, cranking up the tragedy, the sadness, the pain and longing, and building to an absolute crescendo during the extended twist and chase/docking sequence.A perk that comes along with this release is a collectible IMAX film cell which is included in a cardboard pouch inside the case. The colour scheme smoothly shifts from the dusty, farm-dominated first half to the later space-based sequences, balancing earthy tones in the former before descending into abyssal blacks in the latter.

Interstellar [2014] (4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray) – Warner Bros

The highlight of the bunch has to be the meaty near hour-long Documentary with Matthew McConaughey hosting which looks at The Science of Interstellar in great depth, detailing the scientific theories that under-pin much of the plot, with specific emphasis on scientific adviser and executive producer Kip Thorne's work on wormholes and black holes.com and Paramount Home Entertainment are offering three members the opportunity to win a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray copy of director Christopher Nolan's Interstellar (2014), starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Ellen Burstyn, and John . Of course the more obvious technique would have been to merely mute the dialogue and let the score and effects take over, but by merely muffling it, audiences are left feeling like they are missing something, rather than hearing what the director wants you to hear.

But the HDR lends this image a lovely degree of naturalism and immersion that you just have to see to fully appreciate. Nolan's visuals treat space as reverently and awe-inspiring as Terrance Malick's beautiful depictions of deep space during the 'Tree of Life. The included extras are all presented in high definition and provide an in-depth look at the making of the film and are generally excellent, in fact our only real complaint would be that there's no 'play all' feature for the various sections which means you have to select each one individually. projection screen and can't mask the top and bottom you're forced to either watch with the opened up image appearing above and below the screen or compose the film at a 1.As such things can’t happen naturally, the belief is that an alien intelligence placed it there deliberately to give Humanity a chance for salvation. Among the highlights are abundant material on the filmmakers’ approach to the production, good looks at the conceptual design and construction of the film’s various spacecraft and equipment, discussion of the film’s groundbreaking depictions of astrophysical phenomena, and lots of on-set interviews and footage with the cast and crew shot during filming. Thanks to High Dynamic Range, the blacks have never been deeper, while the brightest area of the image are truly bright. Miniatures in Space (05:29) - Less miniatures and more like full-scale mock-ups as the filmmakers use the actual full-size vehicles for many of the space shots, adding another level of realism. Life on Cooper’s Farm– We get a look at the location of the farm (in Canada, not the Mid-West), the immense corn field that was actually planted (and later sold, which turned a profit) as well as some of the accruements of the Cooper place.
