About this deal

Once you turn the lights down, more issues surrounding the FALD and LCD technology become apparent with more blooming noticeable around things like subtitles and bright objects like white spaceships against the darkness of space. Assembly is easy and, like before, there’s a cable clutter system to route cables through the protruding ‘feet’ of the stand for a tidier area. I found the sound quality to be useable for everyday TV viewing in a living room but it lacks any large soundstage or weight for movie soundtracks.

The tk_or is a referral cookie set by the JetPack plugin on sites using WooCommerce, which analyzes referrer behaviour for Jetpack. Flick to the Dolby Vision version on Disney+ and the level of detail in the shadows and darkest parts is much improved, so you’ll want to be viewing as much Dolby Vision content to mitigate this issue. YouTube does offer a subscription service, known as YouTube Premium, but thisThe 50-inch A7GQ we are reviewing has a VA 60Hz (8bit+FRC) panel that has a measured black level of 0. We use Calman colour calibration software, a Murideo Seven Generator and Klein K-10A meter for measurement and calibration. When it comes to the picture presets, the HDR Day and Night presets actually look worse than the default Standard setting. Other features include an AI picture processor for upscaling, and Dolby Atmos support for immersive audio is also built-in though the TV obviously only has two speakers. Viewing angles are not a strong point on the Hisense and as soon as you get over 20 degrees off-axis colour and gamma start to drift noticeably.

Dialogue is intelligible with all content types but the overall sound quality is a little boxed in and lacking any real dynamic range. As you can see, in the most accurate picture mode for D65 white, which is HDR Night, the A7G is only capable of 250 nits brightness with all window sizes. We found panel uniformity to be decent with some darker corners and outer edges and a slightly brighter centre when showing a 100% brightness field and a darker centre and lighter edges on a 5% field. As most streaming services now provide DV content as well as a growing catalogue of UHD Blu-rays, you should be able to get the best out of the U7QF. The Hisense U7QF has a number of calibration controls available including a 2 and 20 point white balance for greyscale correction, a gamma adjustment for gamma calibration at 5% levels as well as a full Colour Management System (CMS).This filter helps to emit a brighter and wider gamut of colours than a conventional LED TV is capable of. There’s an option of a few audio modes with Theatre the most expansive (and best suited to films): Speech smooths out dialogue while Sports sounds big and impactful. It is perfectly serviceable for everyday soaps, news channel or documentaries, but if you want more depth and substance to your TV audio I would suggest that a soundbar is a must. As the next set after the flagship U8QF Quantum Series, though, you should expect more than last year’s affordable U7B ULED. In day to day use, we didn't have any issues with the sound system performance with voices sounding clear and distinguishable, with a good stereo soundstage to either side of the set.

It did slow down on occasions or apps took a little longer than normal to open now and again, but overall, the system worked as expected and the quality of streaming playback was good. It’s a pledge that Hisense delivered so well in 2020 with its R50B7120UK model that it has decided to leave the recipe pretty much as it was for its 2021 Roku TV. The vast majority of consumers will never push the U7QF hard enough to really find all the niggles we did and as such it will be a perfect choice for many. Third, the 55A7GQ’s black level and brightness limitations seem much less damaging with game graphics than they are with video – especially if you’re gaming in SDR rather than HDR.Dolby Vision was the best performer of all the HDR flavours available as the dynamic metadata approach allows more visible specular highlights and better mid-tones adding some depth to the image.
