One of the things I loved the most about Daughter of the Moon Goddess was the way I could not predict what was going to happen.In HOTSW, Xingyin was down-right disgustingly aggravating, selfish, self-involved, immature, arrogant, and stupid. I do not read/listen to these types of books often but after The Daughter of the Moon Goddesses and this book definitely look forward to more! There’s a big focus on how grief and trauma, sometimes making us stronger, while also stripping us of other things; changing us. By refusing to see the good in them, you might lose something precious that you never allowed yourself to find.

There were snippets of her mortal life at the start of the book which gave me hope that she would be fleshed out as a character.
The writing in this book is just as lyrical and beautiful as the first, but it’s definitely more fluff than plot in this book. Maia Tamarin dreams of becoming the greatest tailor in the land, but as a girl, the best she can hope for is to marry well.
