Even with the main character's unusual backstory, this feels more like a regular new adult romance than anything else. with their romance having an end date once summer ends, though you can’t help but root for them anyway.In the wake of their breakup, she starts to crush on her neighbor, who happens to be a budding musician. However, she hits a roadblock when her father actively disapproves and prevents her from supporting him, claiming that he isn’t trustworthy. It didn’t hit quite as emotional as I’m used to from this author but it does have a twist towards the end in classic CoHo style. What Beyah doesn't realize is that a rip current is coming, and it's about to drag her heart out to sea.

One reviewer said this book had them crying “ugly tears” at two in the morning, while another said the book made them hurt in the best way possible. he just went along with sara and i just loved how he it was clear was willing to do anything for sara.Samson comes clean about his past, revealing that he hadn’t grown up rich like she and everyone assumed, rather he lived a small life with his father…on a sailboat. Both of these characters have gone through more than most people can imagine and that’s reflected in their attitude. But as the summer progresses, and she lets her guard down little by little, Beyah realizes that there’s so much about Samson she doesn’t know. A recent review said the book left the reader “speechless” and that their heart was “broken into a million pieces.
