When melted, remove the bowl from the heat and add in all the dry ingredients (except smarties and jelly tots). Once cool, top each muffin with 2 circles cut from dried mango or apricot and add raisins to make Gruffalo eyes. If using coconut oil, gently melt first, then place all the crumble ingredients in a bowl and rub together with your fingertips until you have sticky crumbs. I wasn’t up to actually making a crumble and ideally wanted to make something that just involved mixing lots of ingredients so my girls could be as involved as possible.

Whilst we were making our delicious Gruffalo crumble, we retold bits of the story and the girls remembered lots of the body parts that we were including. If the thought of putting together a World Book Day costume fills you with dread, why not choose to mark the day in a different way.
