Before the official title of the book was revealed, it was referred to as Dipper's Journal during the "Gravity Falls revealed" panel at New York Comic Con in 2015. I bought a whole stack (or 2) of post-it notes, in the end I didn’t need that many, but I wanted to be prepared. This book does add a bunch to the show - especially the part before dipper adds a whole new layer of things that just weren't explored in the show. It's definitely meant for fans first and foremost, something to enhance the whole experience after the fact. D) What I’m going to do for my project instead, is invite “Bill” to make additions to my journal project (the Bill Cipher from Demon Dreams, not the one from the show.

It’s humor (so, SO funny), endless well of mysteries, clever world-building and gobs of heart has solidified it as one of my all-time favorite ‘go-to’ shows that consistently brings me joy. In the commentaries on Gravity Falls: The Complete Series, Alex Hirsch stated that there are still several codes in the book that he has not seen anyone solve yet.
