Dermal absorption in rats is less than 1% after 24 hours exposure and toxicity is considered to be low.

It offers a convenient spray-based solution that provides 3-month protection against fleas and one-month protection against ticks. The implications of this for other wildlife and ecology of the habitat remain unknown, but appear unlikely to be severe. Fipronil belongs to phenylpyrazole class and interacts with GABA receptors which results in death of parasites. Fipronil for dogs also kills ants, beetles, cockroaches, ticks, termites, weevils and other insects. There is no evidence that fipronil or its breakdown products evaporate from soil or water into the air.If fleas are becoming resistance to Fipronil then this would result in the product failing to kill the fleas that it come into contact with. Fipronil-containing products (usually Frontline or Frontline Plus*) have been included in many effectiveness studies over the years. They are proud of their heritage and the extensive range of high quality products that are used throughout the globe. Fipronil-based products are not suitable for puppies under eight weeks old or dogs weighing less than 2kg.

When applied as directed by your vet, the active ingredient in Frontline, Fipronil, helps to bring infestations under control.
