As far as hardware is concerned, the Ubiquity USG (square box device) is the same as the EdgeRouter Lite. Tech and software can be a tricky territory, but thankfully, with the EdgeRouter 4, you’re not venturing into an IT maze. But competition is what keeps brands on their toes, ensuring that they consistently deliver their best. To summarize, the USG supports all the software capabilities of the EdgeRouter but you have to configure it via the GUI unless you want to mess with CLI. It may be useless to you and those who do care about VPN performance, but overall it isn't totally useless. When people go around praising a product that does not represent a good value, it is a disservice to the reader and it's totally reasonable for someone to speak up.

The one thing it doesn’t offer is POE but the access points i use include power injectors (sku: uap-ac-hd-us) so that’s not an issue for me.
