About this deal

Yes, of course you're not going to be playing Rachmaninov or Liszt on it, but it's squarely aimed at the middle of the market and therefore it caters to those who are going to be using it exceptionally well. However, the Donner DEP-20, while not the best action I've ever played, is far from terrible and for beginner and intermediate players, should serve its' purpose quite well.

Only critique: it's pretty "tall", so depending on the stand you use, it may end up being a bit high up.My only 'complaint' is that it's really difficult to to get (quickly/efficiently) to desired voices.

One thing I will say about the keys is that there's a lot of lateral movement when playing, and I found that occasionally keys were brushing up against adjacent keys when they were being played. The Donner DEP-20, on the other hand, gives you multiple options of just about every sound you need, making it ideal for pianists looking for more versatility. If you’re just beginning then there’s going to be a while until you even come near to playing complex enough musical pieces to get near to that upper limit. The lightweight action is good for smaller and weaker fingers, and will make it much easier to learn the basics. Now, this is still a fair amount for a beginner’s piano, and it covers just about all your tone needs when starting out with lessons.

The built in piano stand version comes with three footpedals which is nice, but I have yet to meet a piano player in the last decade that cares about two of those pedals. This is about standard for a digital piano, and since the voices are good quality, beginners have just about all the sounds they need to start learning the instrument. The piano includes almost everything that you will expect out of a digital piano, with no compromises made on quality. After reading this review, you’re going to have a well rounded opinion, and you’re going to be able to make an informed decision regarding the DEP-20. My only gripe would be that the corner edges of the keys are a little sharp so feel rough and unfinished and when you have been playing for a while you can no longer adjust the metronome beats per minute so you have to reboot it.
