I bought this telescope for my 9yr old granddaughter who has developed an interest in the night skies. The advertising on the box describes it as a nature observing telescope which can be used for casual astronomy.

The idea of a wi-fi-enabled telescope is good, but the Celestron Astro Fi 102 fails to live up to most users’ expectations.

The tripod refuses to stay put when the telescope is pointed above the horizon, and it constantly tips downward or upward unless the altitude axis is locked, which then prevents any sort of fine pointing. Its compact size makes it easy to transport to any location where you can enjoy some stargazing without compromising on image quality or stability.
