About this deal

For the eyeball themed snack below, I served my rice eyeballs up in mini silicone cups to make them slightly easier to eat. If your icing is the right consistency the little point that is left will settle back down into the eye. I recommend drizzling the caramel in some fun swirls that are evenly distributed throughout the chocolate. Seasonal candy sprinkles and Halloween novelty items like edible bones and candy corn also add some festive fun.

Mix up the powdered sugar, corn starch, vanilla optional and water until an icing like consistency is formed. I think I prefer the friendly uni-brow, smiley one, but you can decide how you like your Halloween monsters! Remove a few tablespoons to a separate, smaller bowl and mix in the black cocoa powder or black food coloring.

Caramel syrup: I used normal ice cream caramel syrup, but you can use whatever type of caramel sauce you might have on hand.

After piping all those eyes, I don't think I could have done it all over again with black icing, and I'm not sure I would be able to create fine enough dots either, but the cotton bud trick worked perfectly! These edible candy eyeballs made from royal icing are an easy way to add monster faces on cupcakes, cookies, and frosted treats. These eyes take literally seconds to make, use only two ingredients, and they are even self-adhesive! Larger eyes will take longer to dry, but the smaller ones should be hard within a few hours to overnight at the longest. Rice (Eye)balls - Shaped rice is a staple food in traditional Japanese bento boxes, and a simple ball of rice is one of the easiest shapes to achieve, with no special equipment needed.Leave us a comment below and let us know how they turned out or tag a picture of your spooky treats and tag us on social media. I found the fantastic cotton bud tip in this post from Reading Confetti, and I have to say, it saved me so much time!

By the time you use all of your white, the first ones will be dry enough for you to start to put on your “pupil”.Mozzarella Pearl Eyeballs - Mozzarella pearls are available in most large supermarkets, and their ready-made ball shape makes them the perfect instant edible eyeball! I made this one for last Halloween, turning it into an eyeball by cutting it into a circle, adding a carrot disk dotted with a black edible marker pen and drawing on the 'veins' with a red edible marker pen. To view the purposes they believe they have legitimate interest for, or to object to this data processing use the vendor list link below. Style Them– If you want to alter the shape of the eyeballs to make them even more spooky, use a toothpick to drag the icing to get the desired shape and look.

Homemade Candy Eyeballs - The Frozen Biscuit

This means you’ll first put a dot or two of white icing onto the parchment paper until you get the desired size of the eyeball. Once you have piped out as many eyes as you'd like, or your hand aches too much to hold the bottle any more, put the trays somewhere safe to dry.Better to start out with too small of a hole than have to re-bag it because it's been cut too large. If you haven't got an edible pen, a dot of black food colouring with a fine paintbrush should also work. To turn your rice ball into an eyeball, cut a disk from cheese, colour with food colouring and draw on a pupil using black food colouring or an edible marker pen. This year I decided to make it an annual thing because having 3 little boys in the house, we put them on everything. Now I did promise two different kinds of edible eyes, and if the project above seems a bit to much effort for you right now, I have the perfect solution for you.
