About this deal
The modern mode is voiced for a bright, articulate sound, with a significant amount of gain, while the vintage setting of the FZ-1W delivers the classic tones of the early 60s. In 2017 Electro-Harmonix reissued the Sovtek Big Muff, commonly known as the 'Green Russian' [6] Deluxe Bass Big Muff Pi. The final stage is a tone recovery stage, which recovers volume loss as the tone stack in the Big Muff is passive and the pedal loses some volume because of this. Compared to the NYC version, the Russian Big Muff is a bit "darker", bassierand with a bit less sustain.
Big Muff (Pedal SHOOTOUT Covering All Features!) Fuzz Face vs. Big Muff (Pedal SHOOTOUT Covering All Features!)
The fuzz side of the pedal is a Walrus Jupiter, a Big Muff based fuzz with switches that allow you to change the bass response and clipping options.Even if that's not your bag, you will find a solid source of edgy fuzzy distortion that lends itself to all manner of heaviness.

On its own, the Jupiter is a decently modded Big Muff, but it's in the Janus that it really comes into its own.I have also latterly been playing around with the superb Foxpedal Defector - which takes a fairly novel approach at the Muff Sound - with a core default sound based on the Russian Muff obviously - and with additional Silicon Diode and LED clipping.
