About this deal

Amy soon receives a packet that contains a rich inheritance and a letter from Aurelia revealing she had kept secrets from Amy, secrets that she wants Amy to know. I absolutely adore historical fiction, I love to imagine the rustling dresses, the wonderful clothes, corsets and curtseying and am always fascinated with the lives people led so many years ago.

After an eight-year career in nonfiction publishing, she worked as a counselor for people with cancer and their families. As Aurelia is the only Vennaway family's daughter, and she's very hard - minded, Amy is allowed to stay - in the kitchen, help to everyone. I learned that building a railway line and station sometimes meant razing whole residential neighborhoods, which is quite staggering!Everyone knows, including Aurelia and Amy that if Aurelia leaves, Amy would need to find somewhere else to live. The plot is very interesting and a lot of questions are raised that you hope will be addressed in an intelligent and believable way. This lonely, scorned figure learns herbs and potions, surrounds herself with lions, and, in a heart-stopping chapter, outwits the monster Scylla to propel Daedalus and his boat to safety. A few passages coil toward melodrama, and one inelegant line after a rape seems jarringly modern, but the spell holds fast. Tracy Rees does a great job of telling a story that captivates the reader and draws them into the story and into the characters' lives so that you care for them and hope they have happy lives.

For instance there’s no point having a character comparing something to a Fabergé egg if the novel is set before Fabergé eggs had ever been made! It is 1831 when eight-year-old Aurelia Vennaway finds a naked baby girl abandoned in the snow on the grounds of her aristocratic family’s magnificent mansion. It reminds me more of the better Heyer novels, and even of the romantic classicists like the Brontes and Austen, than of the contemporary historical romances. Tad atrodė, jog visi knygos veikėjai man lyg seni geri pažįstami, kad ir kokie pozityvūs ar negatyvūs jie būtų- vis vien atrodė tokie. The love interests felt unrealistic and just filled me with indifference and her constant complaining about the task was very irritating. Given Lady Celestina’s tragic history of miscarriages, why do she and her husband prefer to turn Amy over to an orphanage rather than rear her as their child? For instance I wrote those first pages in a house I’d moved into a few months previously, when there was thick snow for several days. Snow began her career at Arthur Andersen/ Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) where she reached the position of manager serving public sector clients.
