About this deal

This innovative design guide draws together expert guidance on designing in the immediate aftermath of the pandemic for key architectural sectors: housing, workplace, civic and cultural, hospitality, education, infrastructure and civic placemaking. Based on his original 6-volume work from the 1930s, this book offers 348 color combinations, as attractive and sensuous as the books own design. The book features a wide range of color palettes, providing inspiration and guidance for designers and artists.

It includes both traditional and unconventional color combinations, allowing for creative exploration and experimentation. From 1933 to 1934 Sanzo Wada published a collection of color combinations that was the first of its kind in Japan. The book not only presents color combinations that are an important record from the Taisho and Showa periods; readers may also perceive a universal sensitivity toward color that can be applied in daily life today. I enjoy looking through the book purely in abstract terms, with the intention of trying some of the combinations in actual designs.

For posters and prints, we roll them into a sturdy cardboard tube and then pack the tube into a cardboard box. The book provides a basic understanding of light and colour, and their significance for humans in the spatial context. i wonder if these combinations are related to kasane no irome, the art of colour-layering garments from japan’s heian era. Perfect little pocket book, but one must understand that it is just an endless collection of color swatches. From this rich resource, 100 fascinating examples have been selected as the basis for this puzzle book. Sanzo Wada was active as an artist, art school instructor, costume designer for the movies and the theater, and kimono and fashion designer who employed his extensive and versatile talents to do innovative work that centered primarily on visual perception and form. He is also known as a Western-style painter, and is active in various fields such as movies, stage art, and fashion design. I recently stumbled upon a nice color book that is based on the original 6 volume colour dictionary by Haishoku Soukan.
