About this deal

The objective of the game is to connect 4 tiles of your color on the same line (vertical, horizontal or diagonal). Your use of Kongregate’s Services is subject to our revised Cookie Policy, Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. There are no specific rules about removing a checker that's been placed accidentally, so you should talk to your opponent.

It’s a good idea to set up as many pieces as you can in the center early on in the game and build your lines around that. Try to place a maximum of checkers in the middle column to maximize the possibilities of aligning 4 checkers in the following turns. There are several different types of Connect Four boards, but all come with a grid that hold the checkers and some type of stand that holds the grid. You’ll also have to be able to remember each of your opponent’s moves and quickly think of the pros and cons of your next move. The goal is to lead your opponent into unwanted moves, which enable you the freedom of developing traps for the next steps.

If you have the second turn of the game, you’ll likely be on the defensive, trying to keep your opponent from getting their checkers in row. Because of this, the player who controls the center column has many more possible ways toconnect 4 pieces. Most opponents won’t appreciate you consulting a tool like this on your smartphone or tablet while you’re playing, so try practicing with the game solver to help you start identifying winning moves that you can use in actual game play. When you open the sliding lever at the bottom of the grid to release the checkers, it’s a good idea to do it over the box that the game comes in.

Setup your board according to the instructions on the box and distribute the checkers to both players.

When it’s your turn to make a move in Connect Four, you take a checker and drop it down one of the slots at the top of the grid. So why not take some time to explore the fascinating world of Connect Four and discover what makes it such a special game?

By watching where they place their pieces, you can start to anticipate their next moves and block their attempts to create connections. The traditional set-up features two end supports with slots for hooks on each side of the grid to snap into.Players that enjoy playing Connect 4 might also like Gomoku, increasing the challenge with a giant board and 5 pieces to connect. If you choose a column other than the middle for your first move, it becomes easier for your opponent to force a tie. The trick to success for this strategy game is to play defensively and offensively, similar to chess or checkers.

Overall, if you're looking for a fun and exciting twist on the classic Connect Four game, 3D Connect Four is definitely worth a try. This adds a whole new layer of complexity to the game, making it much more challenging and engaging. When you’re ready to play, place the board between you and your opponent so you’re each on one side of it. It makes a wonderful gift for anyone who appreciates quality, classic games and it’s a top seller for children. During the course of play, you and your opponent will alternate turns after making a move with a checker. If you can’t immediately block the space, or if the winning space is on the second row, be careful not to drop your piece below that winning spot.
