About this deal

Narration and vocals sound full and detailed. However, the lowest and highest notes tend to sound less refined. The Audioengine A2+ Wireless speakers are a unique option, as they’re powered desktop speakers, meaning they don’t require an external amplifier. You can also connect them with wireless Bluetooth connectivity for added convenience.

The bookshelf speaker looks cluttered in the front, especially because of the super-tweeter. Plus, the screws scattered all around the front panel make it look a bit steampunk compared to the cleaner design of modern speakers. You can conveniently take the grill out if you want and they also support DTS and Dolby. The dynamic balance technology these speakers come with ensures they work well with your home theatre. Other Things to Consider Price Sony SSCS5 It's a very high value performer that already measures and sounds very good. It has a peak at 1 kHz, and a polite voicing that falls off a little bit at higher frequencies. There's little output below 70 hz, but a subwoofer can solve that issue, or it could be used without one in an office or dorm room or some place where deep bass isn't required.

For their price, a pair of Sony SS-CS5 offers unmatched sound quality. Yes, you might get a better soundstage from, let’s say, the KEF LS50 Meta, but these are speakers that cost eight times more, so to me, the SS-CS5 rightfully deserve the popularity they gained among audio enthusiasts. This post shows the impact of shorting the resistor in the woofer crossover. Instead of adding and removing the short for every measurement, I used the 2nd speaker from the pair. The 2 speakers don't measure quite identically (though they do image quite well). The major impact of shorting the resistor is to fill in the slight dip in response between 2 kHz and 4 kHz. Originally, the woofer and tweeter don't quite reach each other at the crossover point. Instead of each of them being 6 dB down, they're more like 8 dB down, and thus there's a depression in the frequency response there (even though they match well in phase). Shorting the resistor extends the woofer's response to meet the tweeter's, yet the slope of the woofer's high frequency attenuation is actually increased (which is also a good thing in this case). The tweeter response isn't changed, so there's no concern about decreased power handling. The Klipsch R-41M is a set of compact and space-saving speakers that lets you set up your system in tight spots. You can use these speakers to build a two-channel stereo sound system. Alternatively, you can repurpose them as front channels of your surround sound system, which may also include Klipsch Reference floor towers and a Klipsch center channel speaker. Premium components SS-CS5 speakers are relatively cheap but made with premium components and several beneficial features. They include a super-tweeter for increased frequency response and cleaner sound. They also have MRC cones in the woofers for smoother bass.

Each speaker features a 5.12″ mica reinforced low-frequency driver, which is crafted to deliver a stable bass performance and enhance mid-range sounds. The woofers utilize a mica cellular diaphragm to help maintain their shape and provide a fuller sound with fine-tuned sonic details. However, for impactful bass performance, consider getting a separate subwoofer or spending extra on floor standers. Wide dispersion tweeter design

Even cheaper than the SS-CS5, the Polk T15 is ideal if you’re on a tight budget and looking for a speaker that enhances low-end frequencies. However, when it comes to neutrality and immersive soundstage, there’s no match: the Sony is by far superior.
