About this deal

We're required to consult with STIG on matters around planning and operating the scheme. This includes air quality and traffic monitoring, the setting of user charges and proposals for the new bus services. New tunnel: The Kjernfjellet tunnel (Girnotunælla in Sami) is 3.3 km long and is directly connected to the E6. With the new tunnel it is possible to avoid a stretch along the northern side of Kjernfjellet that was dangerous in winter. Construction of the Portal Building on the south side of the Thames in Greenwich is well underway. Excavation of the South Portal entrance is in progress The contract has been published as part of our commitment to transparency. See the Silvertown Tunnel project agreement. With the stone lost, and only a magical cobblers hammer in her belt Rose sets off to stop an impending cataclysmic event and evil arising from the dead and depths of the mythology.

It’s not difficult to understand what Lelle is going through - the torment of not knowing what has happened to his daughter, and the all pervading air of sadness he carries with him, as he searches long abandoned homes deep in the forest, with their smells of decay, rotten wood, and a desolation matched only by the solitude of the remote Swedish landscape. But Lelle’s despair is all consuming and my heart breaks for him - God how it breaks! A temporary bridge has been installed on Millennium Way. This allows the excavation of the 'cut and cover' section to continue beneath itRose is a strong heroine, both likeable and relatable, and I felt for her in the difficult position she was in with her tormentor Emer’s dad employing Rose’s father. A situation Emer was able to exploit to the full. User charges for the new tunnel, as well as the new cross-river bus network, will help us manage the environmental impact of traffic. We are committed to ensuring the scheme delivers an overall improvement on air quality. Developing proposals for a new cross-river cycling facility as part of the 2025 Silvertown Tunnel opening to help cyclists cross the Thames safely I’m sorry to be critical but, despite the publishers’ claims, I didn’t find The Silver Road either compelling or haunting. It’s an unoriginal story in a setting which isn’t sufficiently well painted and I can’t recommend it. In the (fictional) town of Carriganawn, Young Rose Darke lives with her parents and twin younger brothers. Late one night, hearing a strange sound outside, she ventures into the garden, armed only with her mother's best wooden spoon. Before her, a large ice giant forms from the falling hail. Voiceless, it gestures she should take a reddish, oval stone from its grasp. Having done so, the strange yet unthreatening giant leaps into the sky and is gone, swallowed into a strange darkness.

The Silver Road is a stunning fantasy adventure that swept me into a world of magic and myth, of danger and hope, of family and friendship that completely entranced me. This is a book I really cannot recommend highly enough – outstanding storytelling from a master storyteller who weaves magic into words. I am such a big fan of Scandi fiction and this book filled all of the requirements and so much more. Intoxicating, atmospheric and set in a bleak landscape of the midnight sun, filled with the desperation and sadness of a father trying to find if his missing daughter is alive driving the Silver road night after night. The central idea is oh-so-familiar. Lelle’s daughter has been missing for three years, having disappeared from a bus stop one morning. Lelle’s marriage has broken up as a result, he has developed an alcohol problem and he obsessively searches the remote countryside looking for her. Meanwhile, a dysfunctional mother and her teenage daughter move in with a local, reclusive resident...and that’s pretty well all that happens for at least the first half of the book. It’s all very, very familiar stuff, it moves very slowly and I wasn’t convinced by either the events or the setting, so even when things did begin to happen I wasn’t really involved. Lelle obsessively drives along the Silver Road at night in his car, often accompanied by the ghost of his daughter. He feels the police have put insufficient effort into finding Lina as he desperately combs the internet for any crumbs of information, whilst exhorting others to help find her. Rose makes a wonderful main character: as I said at the beginning, she has found starting the grammar school tough with Emer, in particular, bullying her from being from the wrong part of town. Rose is hard-working and all she wants to do is study and make her family proud, but the added complication of Emer's father being her dad's boss, means that she doesn't feel she can talk about what's happening to her parents. And on top of all that, she is clearly still mourning the loss of her Mamó who shared the Irish myths with her. Rose is a determined character with an inner strength that I think surprises even her.A book for lovers of Irish and Celtic mythology, as well as good wholesome adventure. With some environmental undertones as well as those of friendship and responsibility.
