About this deal

The nozzle also has a vent that controls airflow. Exposing this vent (by shifting the tips forward) reduces bass frequencies since they escape outside the sound tube before even reaching the eardrum. Placing the tip at the top of the nozzle reduces the bass noticeably. The IE 200 can be seen as the poorer sibling of the IE 600, where it maintains good neutrality but is less articulate and relatively less detailed. But its frequency response is less offensive, it has good bass presence, it has clear engaging treble, its midrange is also cosy without too distracting. Compared to the IE 300, the sound staging among the instruments sound more cohesive on the IE 200. The bass is less overpowering which brings out midrange better. The IE 300 is somewhat too preoccupied with tuning the treble to such extraordinary feel that it somewhat neglects the balancing of the midrange instruments. No doubt the IE 300 sounds more impressive on initial listen, but the IE 200 is more faithful to the source. Sony XBA-4: the Sony has wider, more distinct, instrumental positioning, the treble is more prominent and little more sparkle. The IE 200 sounds a little more distant comparatively. To be able to deliver such detailed and analytical sound at what is a relatively affordable price is a real achievement and a testament to Sennheiser’s technical expertise. The IE 200 aren’t without a few shortcomings, however. My observations were the AKM in the J2 was just too warm and the ESS 9219 in the UP5 a tad too clean and bright. Much as I preference with this IEM the ever slight weight the CS dacs was the perfect middle ground. I can't speak for other reviewers but sometimes I wonder if they put in the time & effort to give whatever they are reviewing its due respect?

In the past years, Sennheiser has positively surprised us with a lot of top-quality products such as the HD 800 (S), the HD 660 S, the HD 560 and several other HD 5-series headphones. Sennheiser has also been active on the IEM and TWS market and the IE inear series and Momentum True Wireless headphones score very well there. Sennheiser uses recessed mmcx ports that are not compatible with many third-party cables. The IEMs rotate freely along the cable joint, but this should not raise any concerns about durability. The mmcx port is recessed into the chassis. I always use Wide Bore Tips and the S&S tips are in there but because of their longer nature without taper you can get a deeper insertion works for the IE200 nicely. This remarkable lightness (4g/side) is achieved by using a plastic shell. Despite being all plastic, the IE 200 feel well put together. The left channel has the model number embossed into the shell. Also, there is a tuning system built into the IEM where there are two positions for the tip. I will go into more detail later, but you can tweak the sound to your preferences. A small port is exposed when you have the tips pulled out a bit. It does alter the sound. Why not make balanced, high-fidelity sound available to everyone, no matter where they are? The IE 200 is Sennheiser’s answer. Whether you’re a lifelong audiophile — or you just want better sound on the road — these exceptionally neutral and precise earphones reveal an entire world of new detail. Sennheiser’s IE series has been quite the powerhouse in the world of IEMs. The new IE 200 is the latest set of earphones from them that made a big impression on me, even more impressive when you see the price. Its strongest comparison would be the IE 300, Sennheiser’s former iteration of a budget-fi IEM that is now off the market. Of course, there are still ways to get the IE 300, but the new IE 200 is meant to be the logical upgrade to the IE 300, but there will always be specific characteristics that some will prefer. Here are some of the differences and similarities you can expect from the IE 200 and IE 300. What You Get

We have reviewed the IE 600 previously though it is a big step in performance and price. The closer sibling is the IE 300 though sadly we have yet to review that one. Less is revealed by Sennheiser regarding the precise implementation and composition of the IE 200 TrueResponse driver other than the diaphragm is polymer-based and is rated at 18Ω impedance and with an SPL of 119dB (1kHz, 1Vrms). That is pretty much in line with the IE 600 driver’s rating. They focus on every musical strand, even as new ones come in. It would be unfair to call the Sennheisers boring or vague, but they are notably less astute and more subdued than their more talented, more affordable rival. VerdictIt's actually a risk for any company to launch an IEM to have all flavors at one price because other line series will get affected but here it was very clear Senhisher wants to deliver top-graded sound for all consumers to enjoy Audiophile sound at a small cost. In the bass region, the IE 200 and 300 both showcase a warm timbre with intimate qualities. Comparing the two, the IE 300 feels a bit more reserved. With the IE 300, you get more scale to the bass, as it fills out more of the sound signature with smooth and colorful textures. Both IEMs are subtle in their detail, not wanting the extension to veer to far into the mids, but the IE 300 seems the cleaner of the two. However, I personally had more fun with the IE 200’s bass response, as it offered more excitement to the tone, especially in the sub-bass. Mids
