Good news… you can! In this article I’ll show you how to refill a Pilot Varsity (or Pilot Vpen as they’re known outside of the United States) with any ink you’d like. For demonstration purposes, I’ll be using a Vpen, but the process is exactly the same with a Varsity. Why Refill A Pilot Varsity? If you want to learn how to write with a fountain pen, there are certainly worse places to start than with the Pilot Varsity. Depending on which airline and aircraft you operate on, you may return to your home base at the end of each day or find yourself downroute in a foreign city for a night or two.

The Pilot Petit1 is a great little pen. It’s fun and easy to use and many people will be attracted to it simply because of it’s size. Don’t let it’s cute looks fool you… it’s still comfortable to use, even if you don’t have small hands. Assessment:assessment involving computer-based aptitude testing, personality questionnaires, teamwork exercises, and competency-based interviews identifies individuals who are most likely to succeed in pilot training and who are suitable for a career an airline pilot.Modular course ground exams (theory) can be studied remotely through virtual learning. While this route can be cheaper, it is still expensive. When you finishyour trainingyou will be issued with a fATPL, which allows you to get a job with an airline as a first officer working alongside a captain. Since nibs are usually interchangeable, it’s not necessary to choose a fountain pen solely because of the nib. The barrel of a fountain pen is often made out of metal (usually brass) but may be constructed of plastic, wood, or other materials. The choice of barrel material comes down to aesthetics and ergonomics. A metal pen offers a weighty feel, but can become tiring to hold for extended writing sessions. A plastic pen is lighter and may be easier to grip for longer periods of time. Other options, like the Faber-Castell E-Motion Fountain Pen with a pear wood barrel, offer the opportunity to make a style statement with your writing instrument. I like the fact that it has a solid brass body, & that it accepts a CON-50 converter. The step-down from the barrel to the section doesn't bother me at all. The nib performs as well & better as other pens I own or have owned - such as a Shaeffer Connaisseur, Pelikan 400, a Waterman Phileas, and a Cross Bailey - at a substantially lower cost. It would be nice if Pilot offered a few more nib choices, even if they would just give us the standard full range of EF, F, M & B; & maybe a few more solid body colors; I'm thinking that Pilot's thinking is that if the Metro was that good, why would we need to step up and buy more expensive Pilot Pens?

One of the most popular options for students is the Pilot Varsity Fountain Pen.Finally, I wouldn’t recommend the Thornton’s Novice. While they aren’t bad pens, there is the illusion of value with the number of pens you get for the price. Unfortunately, they just don’t hold up when compared to a set of Varsity, Preppy or even Petit1 pens. They’re not bad pens, by any means, but the Novice are truly the only disposable pens of the bunch, as they are impossible to easily refill.
