The Owleez instructions were easy to follow, but the results were mixed! Owleez instructions advise that the more you practice with Owleez, the better he will fly, but in our case, I have to be honest and say we have seen much of an improvement in his flying, with us having never reached the full ten seconds of flight. Despite this, the girls have found him hilarious, and have enjoyed showing friends and family their toy bird that can actually fly across the room. It’s really clever – Owleez’ body is built perfectly for flight. Owleez tells you when he wants to eat – and comes with a little plastic berry to feed him with. Place it next to his beak and head him nibbling – he’ll also try and nibble your finger! The Owleez toy is a fun adorable interactive owl- think a cross between a furby and a flying helicopter or drone and you wouldn’t be too far away from the reality of this fun flying toy with a difference. With a cute little face and adorable giant colour change eyes that reflect his mood, children can nurture and care for their Owleez, as he responds to touch and motion.

Having an owl as a pet just isn’t an option sadly, so we have opted for the next best thing, teaching our very own baby owl how to fly. They come with 1 x Pink Owleez, 1 x Berry food accessory and 1 x nest and you teach them how to fly! You help them by swinging them though the air to their happy noises and they fly like a little baby bird. This isn’t all! Their eyes change colour too and they respond to your touch! You can feed, pet them and play games. They even sing and dance to their own beat. What we did find though is it does crash when it has finished. My eldest kept really worrying it was going to break but there were no issues. You mustn’t try and push the head down and place your Owleez on a flat surface. It will close alone. Then it is good to fly and again and with more practice gets better and better. Your Owleez will seem a bit sad after crashing and my eldest enjoyed patting and comforting it afterwards. Owleez needs your help to learn how to fly and in the box is the owl, some berries and a nest. Setting Owleez upThere are issues when you can’t get your Owleez to fly but the instructions and trouble shooting are helpful and with a bit of persevering it does usually fly! Just follow the Owleez how to fly instructions and you should be fine. Kids start by practicing with their owl and swinging Owleez through the air over and over again. With enough practice, Owleez will be ready to fly. One of the best parts about Owleez that makes it unique as an interactive pet is that it can fail — and that’s OK. Baby owls don’t fly right out of the nest, so it encourages kids to keep training their pets until they can successfully fly. Price-wise it isn’t a cheap toy but it works, its novel and great fun! I think as its so light it feels a little expensive but I guess it needs to be quite light to fly.

First things first, before you teach Owleez flying baby owl how to fly, you need to make sure that a) he is fully charged and b) that you have quite a bit of room around the owl itself – not too close to walls and with room above his head, as when he flies, he will go up and out. If the wings are still in flight then they can be closed when you touch the wings and the head will be closed automatically, never push the head down. Once it’s fully charged, it can fly 45 times.

Overall I was really impressed once again. It’s such good fun when your Owleez flies and your little ones will love the interactive experience. Also be patient. When you have started to make it fly and it says “weeee”, just let it go. It needs a few seconds for those propellers to spin and make it fly!! Also give her plenty of space to fly! If your Owleez wont fly or isn’t sufficiently charged or in a good mood, he will stop half way through the take off and say no, followed by “wah wah wah”.There is also an instruction manual included with Owleez troubleshooting.
