About this deal

You can cycle between the 5 different brushing modes (Daily Clean, Whiten, Super Sensitive, Sensitive, and Intense) with just the press of a button. I honestly never use any mode than the Daily Clean and so far, it has given me great results within my morning and evening routines. All system components (e.g., toothbrush handle, charger, power cord, SmartGuide). You do not need to include accessories like the brush heads or refill stand. The most notable differences and benefits are the battery life and pressure sensor of the Smart 1500. The Series 9 has 7 cleaning modes (daily clean, sensitive, super sensitive, intense, whiten, gum care & tongue clean) compared to the 5 of the Series 7 (daily clean, sensitive, intense, whiten & gum care). The extra modes the iO9 has are super sensitive and tongue clean.

It offers a blend of features and functions that benefit us as users at a price that most will find affordable. You are scored at the end of a brushing session and can see just how well you cleaned each zone. If the teeth haven’t all changed to white, you haven’t done the best job you can. It is a useful tool for encouraging better habits. The iO Series 6 has Oral-B's latest motor, which is extremely quiet and allows the brush to glide smoothly across your teeth. The handle has a smooth finish and, although not the lightest around, is evenly weighted and comfortable in the hand. It does not mean the brush will actually clean the teeth better. In fact, both have the same motor inside and the same cleaning modes. All the function IMHO is just marketing. They have no additional function and i would assume 99 of 100 customers would not even bother to use them.

If you know you tend to brush with a lot of force, the iO5 could really help prevent you from doing unnecessary damage to the teeth and gums. The only downside is that there are no controls for adjusting modes or choosing an intensity setting on the brush itself. Instead, all the customization is done through the mobile app. That's not an issue once you've set it to your exact preferences, though; provided you don't like to switch modes on the fly, it's a superb brush. FOR HEALTHIER GUMS IN JUST 1 WEEK remove 100% more plaque and even 2.5X in between teeth* with ORAL-B's MOST ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY *vs a manual brush. Dentists recommend replacing your brush head every 3 months or sooner if it becomes worn for an optimal clean. The app is extremely simple to use; just begin brushing, and a graphic on-screen will show which section of your mouth you're currently cleaning using data from the location sensor in the brush's handle. The teeth in the image will gradually change from blue to white as you work your way around, showing when you've cleaned each part of your mouth thoroughly

Another factor is how frequently you travel. Most of the electric toothbrushes we've tested come with a travel case, but the higher-end brushes have cases with rechargeable batteries, so your brush doesn't run flat during long trips away. A typical electric toothbrush won't need charging more than once a week, so if you're rarely away from home longer than that, you could save money by skipping the fancy case. Read our full Oclean X Pro Elite review Electric toothbrush FAQs How to choose the best electric toothbrush for you There are quite a few similarities between them, but the Pro 7000 is the slightly more feature-rich and the brush that we would opt for. The Series 7 comes with a magnetic charger that recharges the battery in 3 hours, compared to the standard Oral-B charger supplied with the Series 6 which takes up to 12 hours.

With high-end tech at a more mid-range price point, this is a superb electric toothbrush. Just watch and wait for that RRP to fall.

Decades of research, testing and manufacturing experience have gone into achieving the brushing results that the iO5 delivers. They are really good, I have no complaints. You could look at the Genius X. This doesn’t require the smartphone camera to be used. Works like the iO but a little less glitzy and feature rich.

Sonic toothbrushes are engineered to vibrate the brush filaments from side to side, and often resemble manual brushes with oval or diamond-shaped heads. These brushes are capable of vibrating up to ~40,000 per minute, depending on the model –meaning they move more rapidly than oscillating toothbrushes. Powerful vibrations force toothpaste and fluid between the teeth, granting a more comprehensive clean. It's not quite as chic. However, if you want a brilliant toothbrush and aren't a frequent traveler, it's one of the best options around. I’m 40 and my parents never taught me how to brush my teeth or encouraged me to do so. My teeth are also very wonky so I clearly should have had braces as a teenager but was never given the option.

A more budget-friendly version of the iO Series 9 that cuts no important corners

Oral-B has added value to the iO9 by including two additional brush heads for a total of four. The iO8 meanwhile, now comes with three brush heads in total.

A new magnetic charger means the brush can be recharged in as little as 3 hours, rather than the more typical 12. For most, this won’t pose any issues, but for those with the most crowded of mouths, you might find it a little more difficult to position the round brush head. In fact, the biggest difference between the Series 6 and Series 7 is that the latter has a more advanced magnetic charging stand. It’s useful, but I suspect that most of us could live without it. Oral-B iO Series 6 review: What’s it like to use? There are some more differences between the cases to be aware of too. iO9 and 10 can be recharged whilst inside their travel case – requires separate power adapterYou have to stand in front of your smartphone when brushing and can’t really move as the brush movements need to be seen by the camera. PERSONALIZE YOUR BRUSHING choosing among 5 CLEANING MODES: Daily Clean, Intense Clean, Sensitive, Super-Sensitive, Whitening. For the majority of people, myself included the Oral-B Smart 1500 is the toothbrush to go for. It offers a balance of cleaning performance and features at a price most will find affordable. The additional cleaning mode (sensitive) is a slower, less powerful mode that is a little more gentle on the teeth and gums, whilst still offering a thorough clean. The Series 9 comes with a power2go charging case that allows the iO to be charged inside whereas the Series 7 comes with a standard travel case.
