About this deal

Aside from Naomi and Xander, this book has so many characters that stood out to me. I really want Mason's story. Mason is Naomi's younger brother and like Naomi, his father's crime fundamentally changed him. Fingers crossed Nora writes a book about him. If, by any chance, you are planning to renovate your home, this book is perfect for you. Remodeling 101: A Home Remodeling Guide for Beginners. The love interest was promising, until he started bossing her around, verbally abusing her and being a total a-hole to her at times because she needed to "get over it". There was a moment in Obsession, when I wanted to high five a devout Christian. That was a first for me *tongue in cheek* It was funny It turns into a game of cat and mouse or more like python and a mouse (if you read the book, you'll get this). All in all, without more spoilers, it is one of the great books to read about obsessions and delusions. None of the parties is 100% innocent but one is slightly better than other and you hope that it wins.

I figured out who the killer was during the beginning of the book. I think it was the beginning.... not far into it at any rate. Well, I had my thoughts of who it was and I was right. I just wonder why it took them so long to try to find her. I think I know but I won't say. Lol Heat level: Mild. They have some tension and a few scenes -- but not super descriptive and not very many scenes to where it takes away from the story.

How to Vote

You come to truly care about young Naomi, who has grown into a woman still trying to outrun her nightmares, literally. Seventeen years have passed and Naomi has a career as a successful photographer, however, she lives her life without putting down roots, traveling frequently and never staying in one place for long. Then she visits Sunrise Cove, Washington, where she impulsively buys a huge old rambling former B&B on a bluff. All stalking is obsessive and entitled but the motivations and behaviour behind stalking can be very different. Madigan provides statistics and anecdotal examples to support her investigation. She discusses the five types of stalker: The Rejected Stalker (often after the breakdown of a relationship); The Intimacy Seeker (who longs for a relationship; this is entangled with erotomania – the delusional belief that another person, usually of a higher social status, is in love with them ie the celebrity stalker); The Resentful Stalker (seeking revenge or retribution); The Incompetent Suitor (seeking short-term gratification spawned by loneliness or lust); and finally The Predator (less common but a more serious risk – the deadly and chilling attention of a stranger). She deconstructs how all of these perpetrators impact or restrict someone’s life in so many ways. As well as being cheesy he is also horrible at comparisons, worse than me actually, and I literally make up comparisons out of my ass. Naomi can feel her defenses failing, and knows that the connection her new life offers is something she’s always secretly craved. But as she’s learned time and again, her past is never more than a nightmare away.

Armchair psychologists, REJOICE! This is your book! Take out your pen and paper because your skills are needed to DIAGNOSE a mental patient. The only issue is to decide WHICH character is mentally obsessive and potentially homicidal. It’s heart pounding, exciting, fast pacing, riveting one sit read with two very disturbed and batshit crazy narrators! When I heard about Obsession, I ran to get my hands on a copy. I had the best intentions to read it before meeting Nicole and hearing her talk about it at the Sydney lunch at @betterreadbookshop, but when the time came, I had not been able to read much of it. Hearing Nicole talking about her experience was entirely enthralling, and it was an utter pleasure to meet her in person and get my book signed. After that, I had the best possible encouragement to make room for Obsession. And I am so glad I did. Just one scene and I hate to say this but this scene sort of was imperative to the plot. That doesn't mean I wasn't pissed though. Most of my GR friends know I abhor any animal cruelty but I understand here why the author had to do it. Still...did it have to be so graphic? I really liked how the book was structured: a precise balance between Nicole's personal story and research around stalking. There is much information about different types of stalking and the realistic legal procedures that can be pursued against a stalker. On this, Nicole does not sugar-coat anything. I was equally angry and sad at the dismissiveness she faced and the social biases that influence us to diminish the dangers of stalking... or even joke about it.What I did find was that the characters, to be honest are very unlikable....but I do believe this is the exactly how the Author wanted you to perceive them. I'm going to go off tangent a little bit to say that Romantic Suspense is probably my least favorite sub-genre of romance because most of the time, it either has great suspense but weak romance or it has great romance but a weak suspense arc. And at first, I was concerned that The Obsession was going to be one of those great suspense but weak romance type of book. But boy was I wrong. So wrong because once Xander was introduced, the romance angle got really interesting and really fascinating. That is not to say that the book wasn't interesting prior to Xander's appearance because it was but there's nothing more exciting than reading about two people falling in love despite the eff up situation they're in. The story is presented from each of the four character's P.O.V. The chapters are short, but the book is long. Get ready to go in deep. Scandalous, frightening innermost thoughts are revealed and it's not pretty. Downright uncomfortable. I find it so fascinating to compare a person's thoughts with their contrasting behavior. The audio version went ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON. The narrators monotone voice didn't help. I didn't enjoy her portrayal of the other characters, especially the males, which sounded exactly like the females and exactly like each other.

The beginning was pretty good and I began thinking...yay....this is going to be a winner!!! But by the middle..........hell, forget the winner!!! It was downhill all the way. I just wanted to scream.... The only characters I kind of liked were the younger version of Naomi and her brother, Mason...........but as adults........talk about idiotic characters!!!! Very clear and concise writing with the first part of the book revealing the author's personal experience with stalking and the rest delving into the psychology behind stalking personalities. It is a very easy read, more fast paced through the author's personal experience.Xander was a mechanic/business owner, half-owner of a bar, book lover, nerd, and lead guitarist in a band (that's actually good). It felt like a little too much. And beyond naming him these things, and showing him within these environments it felt a little like window-dressing. I just didn't buy them all. He was a general care-taking, (nice) alpha with some domineering tendencies, but mostly loves that this woman is independent and smart.

This story is about 4 people 2 couples/ friends ....deceipt,lies,revenge, affairs infatuation, lust. POV: This alternated between focusing mainly on Naomi and Xander in 3rd person narrative with a few sections with a few side-characters. So he puts cameras to the trees in front of Delilah house and starts his binge watching entertainment with lots of popcorns and stalker fantasies. Now if your partner asked you honestly...... Who else would you go for if you could?... in a sexual context.... would you answer truthfully??

This is Amanda Robson's phenomenal debut novel. It was the #1 e-book all summer in the U.K., Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. The US publication is scheduled for September 19, 2017. Of course some speak to me more than others, but I liked this one a lot, enough to read it a second time this week. Some people, such as Clementine Ford, have responded by openly naming and shaming offenders and calling them out publicly for their behaviour, but does the potential downside of this outweigh the benefits? Erin Molan campaigned for legislative change regarding online bullying and trolling. Others such as Ginger Gorman, Bri Lee, Jess Hill, Grace Tame and Stephanie Wood exposed ‘dark secrets with searing honesty by examining all perspectives’, a commitment which Madigan found ‘profoundly important’. H rating: 3.5 stars. Xander. I don't think we got into his character as much as I'd have liked -- it felt kind of surface level, but what I did get I liked!
