About this deal

Don't try to force a relationship. Be available, but give the new employee time to adjust to you and feel comfortable with using you as a trusted source; A buddy provides moral support during the first few crucial weeks by introducing the new employee to staff members and showing them around their new workplace. He or she should have a good work performance history and be someone whom other employees like and respect. Ideally, buddies are also rewarded formally through performance appraisals and/or gestures of appreciation and respect. Characteristics of a Good Buddy I’m an NCLEX Prep Expert, Nurse Educator, Public Speaker & Content Writer and my soul mission is to help nurses excel in their academic and professional goals by helping them develop strategies for success! buddy system guide - CAPC Well-being buddy system guide - CAPC

A nursing agency has launched new training and a “buddy” system for staff, as part of wider efforts to ensure employees look after their own mental wellbeing. Adult Nursing specialises in caring for and supporting vulnerable adults in a variety of settings including hospital, community and the independent and voluntary sectors. Our undergraduate courses have been designed, developed and are delivered to recognise the core values of the NHS and the required standards of our accrediting body the Nursing and Midwifery Council. To help people settle in, I’ve set up a buddy system to make sure people are paired with someone of a similar age to help them navigate a new place. Buddies need to be aware of language and accent barriers, and have patience. Overseas staff will have spent a lot of time and money getting here – you don’t want them to arrive, feel unwelcome, and want to leave again. This is a retention issue as well. We help support documentation of body maps, property forms and transfer forms. NRSS often provide 1-1 care and it is not unusual to be discharged with the patient to wards. The buddy system is not only valuable to your new employee; you can also use it to develop existing staff members’ skills. By talking with the new hire, the buddy will learn tools and techniques that other companies use, develop mentoring skills, and improve leadership know-how that is ultimately useful within your company.
