Oliver F. Emerson, " Legends of Cain, Especially in Old and Middle English", Publications of the Modern Language Association of America 21(4), 1906; po. 865, 871. Edit: RIP Adrian Barnes. I learned today that the author died early this year, succumbing to the brain cancer he was diagnosed with around the time the book was released. Crowther, Bruce (1991). Yesterday's Yorkshire. David & Charles. p.118. ISBN 9780715394717 . Retrieved 8 July 2017.

Having made his literary point, the prose becomes more conventional as he gets on with the story. Hardly anybody in Vancouver can sleep. (Yes, Vancouver. Why not?). Our writer and children seem to be the only ones. Why? Who knows? I'm reminded of Day of the Triffids, where someone wakes up and everybody else is blind. There's a parallel with My name is Legion too. Triffids, Legion and Nod: three fine books and each one thin - conclude what you will. Valentinelli, Monica (2004-09-29). "Book of Nod RPG Review". FlamesRising.com . Retrieved 2008-04-19.

The first section of the book talks about the history of the fabled Book of Nod and has most of the commentary from the “author”. This book has been pieced together by their travels and research and collected into one place to have a close translation of all core text that belongs in the Book of Nod.

Land of Nod Road is the name of a residential road in Windham, Maine, US ( 43°45′02″N 70°22′43″W / 43.7506°N 70.3787°W / 43.7506; -70.3787 ( Land of Nod, Windham, Maine)), and a private road in Headley Down, Hampshire, UK ( 51°07′16″N 0°47′59″W / 51.1211°N 0.7998°W / 51.1211; -0.7998 ( Land of Nod, Headley Down)). Cain’s Wife and Child

After psychosis sets in for those who cannot sleep, and Nod falls into the wrong hands, Paul’s world begins to spiral out of control in a way he never could have imagined. The first recorded use of the phrase to mean "sleep" comes from Jonathan Swift in his Complete Collection of Genteel and Ingenious Conversation (1737) [15] and Gulliver's Travels.

The land of Nod is so called because it was the land in which Cain wandered about in fear and trembling. (Ephrem, Commentary on Genesis 3:11)NOD is a book for dreamers who have become scared to dream, making it a delightful bit of horror. --Starburst Magazine

There was a program sponsored by A&E it was called Mysteries of The Bible nowadays other Exploring T.V. stations do Bible Secrets. Gripping. Exceptional. Readers will be compelled to continue through to the end of this disturbing, spellbinding journey.”

Who Was Cain’s Wife?

Byron, John. Cain and Abel in text and tradition: Jewish and Christian interpretations of the first sibling rivalry. Leiden: Brill, 2011. ISBN 978-90-04-19252-2 Violent, frightening, textured, and dystopian are words that aptly describe the short-lived world that Barnes has created. Barnes’ writing is beautiful, but sometimes a little too good; the descriptions, both compelling and creepy, occasionally subtract from the story he’s trying to tell: Byron 2011, p. 101. "Some authors carried the groaning and shaking interpretation over to Gen 4:16 when they commented on Cain's dwelling place. In the Hebrew version we read that Cain lived in the land of Nod. The name Nod is related to the participle נָ֖ד‎ in 4:12 which the LXX translated as τρέμων (trembling). This led some interpreters to understand the Land of Nod as the 'land of shaking.' In Fevre Dream by George R. R. Martin, the Land of Nod is suggested as a place where vampires originated. The style of writing that Nod is written in was overwhelmingly distracting. Maybe the author did manage to write a passably interesting book, but it was completely hidden under that many words I couldn't even be bothered to start digging. I did manage to finish Nod, mainly because I was playing the "how many ridiculous words in one sentence can I find" game. It's not that often that I find myself writing a completely negative review, but I can honestly say that I can not find anything about this book that I liked. 1 star.
