About this deal

Aicok espresso machine is one of the heavier portable machines weighing over 1kg. However, it still manages to be quite compact and portable. The main advantages are the one-button easy-to-use operation and the pressure of 15-20 bars. However, it is only compatible with capsules, and not the coffee grounds. First up, it’s a very solid option for the price. The Staresso portable machine is easy to use and clean and it creates good coffee on the go. Although the coffee quality isn’t quite as good as a home espresso machine, what you lose in quality, you gain in freedom. Thanks Simon! I’m using the Barrista Kit, works the same. Extremely tamped, (presumably) “fine” grind on the 1Presso Mini Grinder, and a steady, lovely stream. While we may be satisfied, it’s never fully satisfied, is it? Good suggestion to tinker with grind until approaching the edge of drip-drip/bitter-slow extraction is reached. Then either configure that special ‘spot’ varying tamping and/or grind. And, I imagine, removing/replacing the pressure piece. If you’re on the road a lot, studying in libraries or merely changing offices regularly throughout the day, the Nanopresso was a neat gadget that’s used with minimal fuss. All you need is access to hot water and some kind of stable surface to set everything up.

Your favorite espresso beverage should also play a role in your decision. Most portable hand espresso machines don’t have the option to froth milk. If you can’t imagine skipping your morning latte, make sure you seek out this feature. The NS Adaptor allows the Nanopresso to use NS CAPSULES* to prepare espresso. The advantage of using capsules is that the coffee is mechanically ground, measured, and tamped with higher precision than we are capable of doing by hand. There is very little left for error, so your espresso is consistent every time. Pods are convenient, mess free, and easier to clean after use. Heat your Water: This will need to be done separately (for a portable coffee maker that heats water, your best bet is a battery-powered machine). The Wacaco Picopresso costs more than many other portable espresso machines, including the brand’s older models. However, that extra expense is worth it for the thoughtfully designed, capable machine that pulls authentic espresso.Alongside the main event, the full Staresso lineup includes the Staresso Mini and Staresso Mirage. So what makes them different? After a few attempts, we were achieving gorgeously smooth, rich cremas with every shot, thanks to those 18 bars of pressure forcing hot water through the coffee grinds. The Staresso coffee maker is so compact and portable that you can use it anywhere. Take it camping, on vacation, to the office, or to the in-laws if their coffee just isn’t up to scratch. Or maybe that last one’s just me…

The Mirage’s 53mm pressurized double filter basket offers plenty of room for error in grind size, making it a solid beginner-friendly option. Staressoclaim their espresso makes creates between 15 and 20 Bar of pressure, and I’m sure it theoretically can. But in reality, you’re getting a smidge north of 15 bar. This creates a good espresso, but not a great espresso. Over a month of use, we found this best for nomadic working and weekends away - in other words, all those times when you’re not sure if there’s going to be great espresso within easy reach. The crucial fact that is important to establish is that you’re not just after coffee, you’re after an espresso. And while every espresso is coffee, not every coffee is an espresso. Of course, let’s not forget, the price can also be a big deciding factor. Depending on your budget, you might choose the option that is most straightforward and requires the least amount of investment.

WACACO Nanopresso Portable Espresso Maker Bundled with NS

Before you buy, think about where you’ll be brewing. In other words, think about what you can access in terms of power and heat. Just know that there’s a perfect travel espresso maker for you, whether you wish to use it in your car, office, or campfire. Each portable espresso maker has its own strengths and the choice depends on what factors are the main priority for you. Which one is the best one from the list?If you’ve never used an outdoor espresso maker before, it takes a bit of time to work out what each component is for, so this is definitely not one to try for the first time at 7am on a weekday morning, but it’s great for taking high quality espresso with you no matter where you're going.
