About this deal

John Brown established his Perth grocery business in 1800 before moving the premises to Atholl Street seven years later. It was his daughter, Margaret, who married Matthew Gloag. She took over the family business from her father in 1824 and ran it until Matthew took control a little over a decade later. taste: More of the same… raisins etc . a bit thin, then came a creamy oil ..which pleasantly surprised…. The new 40% abv Naked Grouse blended malt has been made from a selection of malt whiskies – including Glenturret, Highland Park and Macallan– matured in first-fill and refill American and European oak casks, and then finished in first-fill oloroso Sherry butts for a further six months. In 1870, following Matthew’s death, the company was sold to Highland Distillers (the same company that owns Macallan as of 1996). From there, the whisky has gained a much wider appeal, becoming the most popular whisky in Scotland in 1980 and being awarded a Royal Warrant in 1984.William Gloag dies; his nephew, Matthew Gloag III, takes over the business. The Gloags register their first blended Scotch: the Brig o’ Perth If we decide not to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms, such decision shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. Convention said Blended Malt matured and got its flavour from pre-used Bourbon casks. This got us thinking, what if instead we used first-fill sherry casks to add another layer of rich and fruity flavour to our unique blend of single malts? These are casks that have never held whisky, Naked Casks we call them. This liberating leap into the unknown didn’t just work, it was a joyful exuberance of flavour that changed the possibilities of whisky enjoyment! – Famous Grouse You are responsible for all activities through your account. Something to note about that body is that, rather than the eponymous Famous Grouse being an illustration, now the grouse is molded right into the glass of the bottle. It’s a very cool and very interesting design feature. While the drink fell out of popularity for a short while in the late 20th century, whisky has recently overtaken vodka as the UK’s most popular spirit and most local pubs will offer a good selection of malts and blends. Taking a sip, that fruit-forward flavor persists. This version seems to be a bit more “punched in” in terms of the saturation of those flavors than the original Famous Grouse edition (probably thanks to those sherry casks used in the finishing process). The first thing I get is actually a bit of orange citrus, followed by some melon and apple. On Ice The first thing I like about this bottle is that there is practically no label! One of my biggest pet peeves with whiskey bottles (and especially with the Famous Grouse brand) is that you can’t really see what you are buying. That amber colored spirit is the star of the show, and the bottle should accentuate and display it as much as possible. A huge label like the typical Famous Grouse varieties sport just hides it, but with this version the whiskey is large and in charge. Are you looking for the best whisky to buy? By the time Matthew Gloag died in 1860, the family business portfolio focused mostly on wines and his son, William Gloag, largely continued this trend.
