About this deal

The Mavic 3 Series have a maximum flight time of 46 minutes and a wealth of advanced flight safety features, such as omnidirectional object sensing, Advanced Return To Home and APAS 5.0. The Mavic 3's second camera is much more limited and can only shoot images in JPEG and standard video (not raw) at 4K 30fps. This hybrid camera only offers basic functionality and Auto shooting, with the ability to view distant scenes with ease. Mavic 3 was released in early November, and a lot of early adopters were disappointed with the bugs that the aircraft had and many missing features. The most current firmware version is 01.00.0500, and to date, it has opened up the features people were waiting for. I think it would have been a good idea to wait before releasing a drone that needs a lot of updates to be fully functional. I believe DJI wanted to hit the market for the holiday shopping season and decided to go for it and fix it in post. LOL.

Mavic 3 Pro and Mavic 3 Cine also feature dual Tele cameras, while Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine have a single Tele camera; I use an iPhone XR and an iPad Mini. I like the iPad Mini is larger and looks good, and it’s not that heavy. It can suffer a little in the sun and be harder to see than the iPhone but shading it with my head, and the sun direction works well, especially in the winter as the sun isn’t directly overhead. Internal Memory The Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine also have a 1/2-inch CMOS 12MP Tele camera, capable of achieving 28x hybrid zoom. The Mavic 3 Classic does not feature the Tele camera, and has 3x digital zoom via its single Hasselblad sensor. The M3T can be used with DJI FlightHub 2. Especially suited to public safety and search and rescue teams, this all-in-one cloud-based software is a vital tool for enhanced situational awareness and real-time team collaboration. Measured in an outdoor, open environment, without interference, and with FCC compliance. The above data shows the farthest communication range for one-way, non-return flights. Pay attention to RTH reminders in the DJI Fly app during your flight.Fly Safer – DJI Mavic 3 drone with camera is equipped with advanced Omnidirectional Obstacle Sensing. This lets you fly confidently and safely wherever you are. DJI Mavic 3 vs Mavic 3 Cine vs Mavic 3 Classic vs Mavic 3 Enterprise vs Mavic 3 Thermal vs Mavic 3 Multispectral: In-depth Comparison The latest firmware update added the Air 2s compatibility to the RC Pro Controller. As they are released, I feel DJI will add more drones to the list. I like the idea of a dedicated controller that doesn’t require an iPad or iPhone. I have a DJI RC Pro Controller on the way to try out. The screen being 1000 nits is helpful but not as bright as I think it should be. It does have a setting to boost the brightness for full sun use. This feature will drain the battery faster. DJI states the RC Pro Controller gets 3 hours of runtime with normal use. Is ProRes worth the extra cost? This blog will examine each drone's core features and highlight their suitability for their specific industry vertical. DJI Mavic 3 vs Mavic 3 Cine vs Mavic 3 Classic vs Mavic 3 Enterprise vs Mavic 3 Thermal vs Mavic 3 Multispectral: At A Glance Now there are six Mavic 3 drones in the mix: The Mavic 3, Mavic 3 Cine, Mavic 3 Classic, Mavic 3 Enterprise, Mavic 3 Thermal, and Mavic 3 Multispectral.

DJI Mavic 3 Pro Cine and Mavic 3 Pro Cine - aimed at pro-filmmakers - support Apple ProRes and have 1TB built-in storage. The new Mavic 3 Pro Cine has tri-camera ProRes support, while ProRes is only supported on the Hasselblad camera of the older Mavic 3 Cine; Mavic 3 Thermal designed for public safety, search and rescue and inspection. Only Mavic 3 drone to have a thermal sensor. The Mavic 3T is compatible with accessories, including loud speaker, and can be used with DJI FlightHub 2, especially suited for public safety teams to enhance situational awareness and teamwide collaboration; Now it's time to dig a bit deeper into the capabilities of each drone. DJI Mavic 3, Mavic 3 Cine, and Mavic 3 Classic: The Filmmaking Drone To take content creation to another level, the Mavic 3 Cine uses Apple ProRes 422 HQ Codec - the industry standard for high-quality video and one of the best practical HD formats available for cinematography. In S mode, you can hit speeds of up to 19 m/s (or 68.4 km/h) with ascent speeds of 8 m/s (28.8 km/h) and descent speeds of 6 m/s (21.6 km/h). While C mode is limited to 5 m/s (18 km/h) with ascent/ descent speeds of 1 m/s (3.6 km/h) and N mode limited to 15 m/s (54 km/h) with ascent/ descent speed of 6 m/s (21.6 km/h). Compared to the S mode on the DJI FPV, it is a bit slower, but understandably given the vastly different purposes of those two drones.

It goes without question that safety is very important when flying a drone. Especially for the less experienced pilots having built-in features that will assist in collisions is a good thing. The Mavic 3 has five sensors that help the pilot avoid hitting trees and other obstacles in its path.

Night Mode: This video mode optimises footage in low-light scenarios such as sunsets and sunrises, reducing noise for cleaner shots. Tested with a production model DJI Mavic 3 Pro in a closed environment in favorable conditions with an unobstructed wireless signal. Actual results may vary depending on the environment, usage, and firmware version. It also has a second camera with up to 4X that looks pretty good at 2X. I wouldn’t use it a lot as it’s digital, and you lose IQ, but it sure can come in handy if you need a tighter shot. Outside the cover, the drone looks much more like the Air 2S; the legs are thinner and the vision sensors placed diagonally on the corners rather than glaring forward like those on the Mavic 2. The top and rear side vents offer a slightly aggressive posture though the spindly legs offset that. The camera system is mounted on a 3-axis motorized gimbal to ensure every shot is smooth and steady. While the body of the Mavic 3 is covered with six fisheye and two wide-angle avoidance sensors, aka Omnidirectional Obstacle Avoidance, to protect the drone from unintentional collisions and assist with autonomous flight. Like most any global navigational satellite system these days, the Mavic 3 contains multiple receivers for different satellite positioning systems. The GPS, Galileo, and BeiDou receivers ensure the drone’s positioning requiring systems work effectively across the globe. Intriguingly, opting for the EU Galileo system over the Russian GLONASS system like in the Mavic Air 2S or the DJI FPV drones. Could this have to do with changing EU drone regulations? EU drone classification laws have not yet been finalized, so it is hard to say for certain.Optical Comparison: 1x v 7x stills from Richmond Park flying field, which is around 14km from The Shard on the right (Image credit: Adam Juniper/Digital Camera World)
